Strangers on a Train: Nancy Drew Diaries, Book 2
L**S
An engaging conclusion to the story begun in Nancy Drew Diaries #1.
"Strangers on a Train" is the second part of the two-part Alaskan cruise storyline that kicks off the Nancy Drew Diaries series, the first part being "Curse of the Arctic Star." I reviewed that one and noted the relatively stumbling way Nancy handled the case there (compared to her more competent 1930s iteration). I'm pleased to report that Book 2 is a bit more eventful, a bit more intelligent, and altogether just a better sell on Nancy as an ace sleuth. Book 1 is still a bit of a must for enjoying this one, though, as much of the set-up for "Strangers on a Train" occurs while Nancy is investigating in "Curse of the Arctic Star."Most of what I said in my review of that book still applies here, apart from the above--it's a much more "childish" iteration of the character than the original version, for better or worse. It was quite a fun read, though! I enjoyed these two novels as an introduction to this new continuity. I still prefer the more fast-paced adventures and the more competent heroine in the original Nancy Drew Mystery Stories series (or at least, in the earlier novels from that series) but I've grown attached to these as well and look forward to casually working my way through subsequent entries in the Diaries series.

Great series!
I ordered this book for my daughter who is 11 almost 12. She recently found an interest in Nancy Drew books and has started collecting the books in this series. She loves these books and is always asking when we can order the next one in the series.

Nancy finishes off her trip to Alaska in a very enjoyable and productive way.
An enjoyable continuation of the first book in the series, this served to resolve the remaining mysteries and to further develop the characters of Nancy, Bess and George. The clues were presented in a direct manner allowing the reader to work along with Nancy in solving the case. An excellent book for a budding lover of children's mysteries with a plot that pulls the reader in.

Nancy Drew to the rescue!
After going through countless book series to try to find something my reluctant reader of a daughter would enjoy reading, I finally opted to try Nancy Drew. She LOVES them! Why didn’t I look to Nancy Drew first? Tried and true works.
