first time my divinity set up fast in about 30 years--definitely would recommend if you are a candy maker
Even though the directions weren't clear on how to use this and even though I didn't attach it correctly until long after I'd bought it, this accessory is fantastic. My late husband bought a k-5 in 1975. I still have the same mixer and it will probably outlive me. He always wanted this attachment but didn't live long enough to buy one. had I known how much easier it would make my divinity making, I would have purchased it long ago. I've only had it about 6 months. It works very well once you figure out how to attach it.For the person who left the 3 star review: I don't know how old your machine is but the little hooks attach to the lift mechanism from behind. It has 2 little pokey-outy things on the outsides of the front of the lifting mechanism arms. They are actually molded into the mechanism. The little hooks hook over those from behind, They do not sit evenly across the diameter of the bowl but are placed slightly to the rear. They will not fit to hook from the front. They didn't fit mine well either until I bent them to fit. I recently figured out that all you need to do is lower the lift arms onto the top of this thing, with the little hooks under the mechanism and behind the pegs, place the little hooks over these pegs and bend the hooks in so that they hook over it and rest snugly against the sides of the arms. Then, you are ready to go and it will always fit snugly. To use it, place your bowl inside of it and slide both onto the bed of the mixer. The lift arms will not go down completely when it is in place. Snap the bowl into the lifting mechanism. Then, hook the hooks on the water jacket over those little peg things. if you've bent the hooks right they will stay securely in place. The back of the jacket fits under the lift mechanism and against the back of the machine. Then, fill it with ice water--if you are trying to make something cold like cooling down divinity but if you are keeping brown beauty icing spreadable, you can put warm water in it . You don't want to put a lot of ice in it because you will want to have a little room to make it easier to unsnap the bowl into it when you have to remove it quickly to put your candy out. This mixer is so strong that in the past, it has taken me about a half hour before the divinity got cooled down and set up sufficiently to spoon out. This was because the mixer beats it so fast that it doesn't cool down very fast. I've even used fans blowing on high to cool it down. However, with this thing in place filled with ice water, it took maybe 10 minutes before the recipe seemed to "stiffen and lose its gloss" as the recipe said. One other thing--with this mixer if you are making divinity and using this jacket, do not beat your egg whites at all before you start pouring in the syrup from your pan. Carry your syrup to the mixer, turn the mixer on high with the whip in place and of course the pouring shield, and immediately begin pouring the syrup in a thin stream. I've done this twice now, and it has made the best smoothest and fastest divinity ever!!!If you add one of those electronic probe temperature alert things set to the soft or hard ball temp listed in the recipe, you don't even have to stand around and watch it. Just listen for the alert and it is ready to put in the bowl and the ice water cools it down and sets it up fast. My divinity making was a total snap this year thanks to this device.

Product Shown Was Not Product Received
I was very dissappointed to receive a KitchenAid Water Jacket K5AWJ which is smaller, does not have room for the handle of the bowl and clips on the protrusions on the outside of the bowl holder, which the Pro 6qt. mixers don't have. The one shown clips onto the arms of the bowl holder directly and is large enough to hold the bowl which has a handle on the side. The company did offer a prompt refund, but I'd been waiting well over a week with plans to use the water jacket as soon as it arrived. [I've wanted it for over forty years but only just received a bowl lift mixer rather than a tilt head mixer.] I've found a large bowl I have already appears to fit under the mixer bowl and it may work just as well as the seemingly impossible to find official water jacket.

Water Jacket a must have !
The Water Jacket for the Kitchen Aid mixer was something I though was overkill until I bought one. Once you have it you will find more and more uses to make cooking and baking great.I first used it to help cream butter and sugar for pastry dough and was amazed at how quickly it did the job. My next task was whipping cream for desserts and to fold into pudding. Last and certainly not least was keeping yeast warm and of course the dough. I am convinced that I saved twenty to thirty minutes of rise time when I made my famous kuchen (German cake). This product is well worth the money if you love to cook and bake like I do.Kitchen-Aid quality is matched by no other company. I am convinced that with care, my mixer and the accessories will outlast me and be able to be handed down to my children (they will probably fight over it). My oldest son is taking an interest in baking now !!Thanks to Kithcen Aid for wonderful products

Wrong size
Despite checking the model number, this water jacket was too broad to fit onto our mixer. We were sorry to have to return it - it looks like an interesting product and we will try to find the right size next time.

At last!!!!!
Thank you Amazon!!!!!!! This product is no longer available in Australia so I was so excited when I found one for my K5 on your site! I just received it today and it fits perfectly and looks great! Even happier that it is shiny as it looks dull in the picture. Love the tracking...so excited when I saw it had arrived and was sitting in customs! Thank you for the care taken in packaging. Love this site!! Very happy shopper! Now I can finally keep my bowls at the temperature I desire for specific recipes.

Fit perfect in my stand mixer
Fit perfect in my stand mixer. KSM5.Kitchenaid has never failed me, well worth buying the better product. Keeping dough warm makes a huge difference when making pizza or bread.

Works, but ill fitting
I would have given this product 5 stars for the functionality, but because it is such an ill fit, I couldn't.I'm not sure if it was just the one I received, but the hooks did not align well at all with the unit.As far as it doing what it was designed to do, it works great.

Time Saving Great Product
This worked like a charm on my KitchenAid KSM5BBU mixer. I've been making skin creams, mixing the ingredients at high speed over an ice bath in the water jacket with fabulous results in half the time. I found it extremely easy to install. Very happy with this product.
