this is how I like my red pepper paste - enough spiciness but not ...
this is how I like my red pepper paste - enough spiciness but not too overwhelming, quite sweet tbh and there's a subtle depth/flavor. the added soybeans at the end gives it another dimension that is quite interesting. what I like is that they clarified there is no fructose corn syrup and I guess it's the more health conscious people who try to avoid it as much as possible. whether it's for health reasons, or even weight, the substitution with rice malt syrup might make a difference. most sugars (fructose corn syrup, table sugar, honey, maple syrup, agave nectar, even fruits) contain fructose which doesn't get metabolized in our body, so it doesn't get used for energy...? although the difference might be minute, intaking too much fructose can prohibit weight loss etc. (that said, we still need to be mindful about how much of this premium red chili paste we use. calories are still calories in the end. does not mean we can use as much as we want, as this product is still quite sweet. 1 tablespoon = 6g of sugar). so use this premium chili paste as a better alternative, but keep in mind as usual about portion control etc. from what I know, rice malt syrup does not contain fructose, so it's a healthier alternative. which is why I like this product. also the first ingredient on the list is rice, followed by red pepper powder, rice malt syrup and then water. unless the ingredients were listed randomly, this shows i'm getting my money's worth of red pepper paste. if you look at other brands and their list of ingredients, it's usually high fructose corn syrup followed by red pepper powder then rice or wheat flour as the list of ingredients. from a health perspective, any product with a form of sugar as the first ingredient is already a bad alarm. so I'm ok with paying a bit more for a good product, versus one that has fillers and water/sugar.

Very traditional gochujang… without corn syrup or fructose!
Excellent. Made in the old traditional way without corn syrup or fructose additives! Costs a little more but well worth it! Sweetened with rice syrup in the traditional way!!! So hard to find, even in Korean supermarkets!

Authentic and GF!
Get the 1lb jar. Costs a little more but is worth it! This is as authentic as it gets. No artificial ingredients and tastes just like my grandma’s! Also, the 1lb jar is GF for anyone who has celiac.

Great flavor! Too salty for me...
I found this product when looking for something else. It is a solid addition to any stir-fry, but it is VERY salty. I would love to know if there is a reduced sodium version. If you add just a little bit, you only get the flavor and not the heat. Add more, and you’ll get both. I added some to my boiling water before cooking rice (along with ginger), and it made some great rice! The paste itself, though, is very salty when adding or eating directly.

Great flavor, not too hot, no corn syrup
This is a little expensive for gochujang, but the taste and the lack of corn syrup make well worth the price. There are many uses but my favorite is adding a little to ground beef when I am making hamburgers. My daughters know something is up but the can't quite put their finger on it. Gochujang really adds a nice, subtle flavor or smooth heat without being unpleasant when using a lot. This is one of my favorite spices/enhancers to experiment with.

Great tasting
I always look for the least ingredients in red pepper paste or soy bean paste. This has the minimal ingredients without any fluffs. It tastes great too.
