The Book of Proverbs Journal: One Chapter a Day Paperback – May 11, 2015

This style of bible study has changed my relationship with the Bible. I cannot suggest this Proverbs journal strongly enough. There are multiple videos online discussing how to use it. I recently purchased a second study from Courtney Joseph, and repurchased the Proverbs study for two Christmas gifts. It is the only bible study I have ever completed on my own. It took me far longer than 31 days, but I always came back to it, and steadily completed it. Reading through it after I completed it has reminded me of who I strive to be. I plan on flipping back through my completed journal often. Continuing to reflect on all that I learned. Potentially completing the study a second time in the future. If you purchase it, focus on completing it in your own time. Bible study shouldn’t be done on a time clock. I did not consistently highlight as instructed because I found that to be distracting. I hope it impacts you as strongly as it has impacted me! I have never left a review on a product I have purchased. That’s how much I absolutely love this!

Courtney Joseph provides free Bible study resources on her website Women Living Well. I've been so blessed by her blog, Bible plans, and other book Women Living Well. This is more of journal/Bible study tool. It does have a pretty cover, space for journaling and following along with the 1 chapter a day reading in Proverbs. You'll need a Bible/app/online source to read the whole chapter. This only has one verse per chapter. I am following along with the online Bible study. I've followed along for the previous studies and I always get so much more out of them, studying with Courtney and the amazing online community of women reading the same passages each day. This is an additional resource. Anyone wishing to follow the reading plan can do so. I am excited to start the book of Proverbs with Courtney and the other women following along.

I love the study books by Courtney and this one is no exception. This keeps me on track for studying the book of Proverbs and provides encouragement for how to really get something out of each chapter, rather than reading a chapter and forgetting.

This is a great bible study tool! It has a page for every chapter in proverbs for you to write about what you read and gives you an outline of what to think about when reading. It uses the acronym SOAK which stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Kneeling in prayer. The author describes what SOAK stands for in the beginning of the journal and also gives a very helpful color code chart for highlighting your bible (pictured below).When open it up to each day one side has a bible verse from that chapter and the other page has SOAK written out so that you can fill out each part for that chapter. I know a lot people may think it is a waste of money but I think it fulfills it's purpose as being a guide for those who need guidance and structure. Tools like this help to enhance my bible study!If you are like me than you will definitely love this Journal! :)

I have been following the GMG plan as we started reading through the bible and this notebook is great tool to help. Proverbs is my GoTo book so having it seperate from my binder is a blessing along with the fact that my binder will not travel as well on vacation over the summer. I do wish there were a little more room for notes but the scriptures on one side leave plenty of space to write additional notes. I did expect this journal to be the size of a regular book and it is larger the pages are the size of standard printer paper. I personally wouldn't purchase this for every book we do but I think it is a great option to have for myself for Proverbs!

Instead of using a plain notebook, this is a welcome change! The layout will help with accountability and get me doing my SOAK each day so I don't have a blank page staring at me if I miss! It's larger than I thought. It is black and white inside but I love adding color and stickers so am glad for the creative freedom there. Excited to start! {Although this is nice, it is NOT required to do the study. I appreciate that! It's nice to support a ministry that is free.}

I was so happy to get this study journal in the mail. For me, I'd rather have this nice little book all ready to go for me, rather than writing out SOAK every day. I'll admit it would be nice to have additional things in there, but I'm still excited to have this book, and be ready to go for the summer bible study. I would love if each book of the bible had this study tool, as it saves me some time, in having to write it all out, and make a binder, or notebook! Thanks Courtney and the GMG! Had I realized I was going to get a Journal with filled with the exact same "SOAK" page over and over and over, I would have used a spiral notebook. It would provide me with more room to write. The keyword color coding chart, or method, that goes along with this study is easily found online. And Proverbs is readily accessible in any christian bible.For that matter, if you want to study along with the Good Morning Girls, a printable version of the study pages is provided via PDF in their resource pages, for free! The only difference is the font, the cover, and a verse is not provided to you to use the 'soak' method on. This seems to be more of a guided journal, but, only as far as choosing a verse for you. On their facebook page there is a daily discussion of sorts, more of a commenting, but the creator of this guided journal never references the verse she provided in the journal. So why provide it? It really should have been a space for us to put in one of our own choosing.I feel duped and incredibly disappointed that in my excitement to get started I didn't take the time to read others reviews before purchasing and foolishly thought there would be more to this product than repetition.But the font is lovely. And the cover, I rather like the womans shoes.
