i've had nothing but great experiences with the service dept. this machine works very well. it has no problem with branches up to the size advertised, even hard woods & thick southern vines. where i had a problem was with the hopper. simply put, the hopper broke and as a result, things got lodged in my chipper and the motor burned out. regardless, i contacted the manufacturer within the return/exchange window and they responded immediately. not only have they shipped me new parts right away, they have improved the product. the hopper design feeds better and is more robust. everything came via UPS almost next day. they want to help. this is a fantastic little machine. i cannot recommend the machine or the service highly enough. i was up and running again in the less than 7 days!one thing to watch for is the feed. all branches are drawn to one side, the right side if you're facing the handle. be sure the pusher is on the far (discharge, away from the handle) side of the hopper wall so you're protecting it. as well, branches that have knots or bends can bounce around inside once they get to a certain length. just turn it off and pull them out if they don't feed. i usually open up the hopper every time the bag is full to clear it out and check for strips that wrap around the shaft. the blades are reversible and are easy to clean and keep sharp.

If you have sweet gum trees on your property, this machine is for you....the spiky sweet gum balls that come off of those trees every year were a literal pain to get rid of/compost but this machine chops those suckers down to tiny pieces which is perfect compost. Also works well for chopping up dry sticks.The only drawbacks are that this shredder could really use a hopper to feed into the opening for the small stuff and the opening size could be bigger because it would jam periodically from too much stuff going through the opening all at once. This machine can't chip wet/green wood...i tried and it just causes the wood to get friction burn from the blades and smoke a little bit. So I would give this a 4.5/5 rating.When you order this machine get a beefy extension cord and hearing protection because this thing is really loud and draws a lot of power.

This is not a chipper shredder but more of a mulching machine. I would not put a branch in the hopper larger than a thumb in diameter (a small thumb at that). It will do well for my needs but if you have a tree move past this and find a better product. Twigs, bush branches and stalks of plants will mulch ok.Update - Today I actually used it on a small project in my yard. This is the first real time using it. The chipper was fed at a slow rate less than 1" dia. twigs and branches one at a time. The machine jammed 3 times per bag. On the start of my 2nd bag the machine jammed on a small branch 3/4" dia. I unplugged the machine cleared the jam, I was getting good at clearing jams. Hit the reset and nothing. Opened it up and found the Blade Block Plate had spilt and part of the blade was stuck / wedged in the plate. This could have been a catastrophic failure. Added the pictures to show the small branch and the machines point of failure. Looking for something built better and will not look at buying this brand again.

I am impressed by this chipper. It makes very nice wood chips from branches. I've been really rough with it the whole time. If you can jam that branch through the slot, it will eat it. It has a breaker button for overload protection that works great. Just means slow down with the big stuff. It didn't seem to shred soft garden debris very well. If you jam it up with anything it opens up very easily. Very easy to clear it all out and try it again.Also, the blades are reversible so you can flip them around and finish the job. The blades lasted a long time. I didn't keep track but I used it a lot and even lent it to someone who used it a lot, then I used again and finally had to flip the blades around. It cut like new again. It's also very light and easy to move anywhere. This chipper has taken a beating and it still looks and works great. Thank you for a good product.
