Broke during it's first use....
This was extremely flimsy....Although it did heat up and cut through my craft foam in around about way, rather than a clean cut it just melted the foam and got covered in black goop which I couldn't get off...By the second pass through my foam the needle bent and it became unusable.Do not waste your money.

good
its 14.99. your not going to get top of the range quality at bottom of the range prices. For the price, id defiantly say its a very good product.

Inside filament broke after a few uses
Originally happy with the item. Was using it to cut ( 5cm thick , 50cm x 100cm ) expanded polystyrene sheets. While cutting the sheets, the iron temperature decreased rapidly, and I would have to go really slow so that it keeps a constant high enough temperature to melt the polystyrene. After a few sessions of use it broke down. When opened it was found out that the filament inside broke. I did not contact the seller to try to get refunds and did not check about warranty. From then on I continued the job using a sharp kitchen knife and it was good enough. I think that this item should be used for smaller jobs where the materials to be cut have smaller dimensions.

Think what you need to cut before you buy
Very good idea. But does not get hot enough to cut foam. Only cuts polystyrene

Broke after a few uses.
Update: unfortunately the heating element broke after a couple of uses.I purchased this in order to create custom foam inserts for cardboard boxes for when shipping parts for my business. The cutter doesn't take long to heat up at all. It gets very hot meaning that it cuts through most foams very easily.

SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS DO NOT PURCHASE
Do not buy this product, it is a serious health and safety risk. I have been trying to get in contact for months to no avail.Apon heating , the shaft heats as you’d expect, however the heating wire inside is loosely covered in plastic which melts, very quickly, this then caused the entire wire to contact with the shaft for the whole length of the shaft, the base of the shaft got hotter and hotter until it snapped and sprung across my table, which could have very easily caused a fire, not to mention serious bodily harm should it have come to contact with my arm, or anywhere else for that matter.I have demanded a refund, and was denied.

Does not work
I tried to cut foam using this. It doesn't work, not suitable. It states in description for memory foam this is incorrect. I tried it on the packing Styrofoam and it worked to a degree, but I wouldn't say "like a pen" as described (as the reason for the 2nd star). I have never used a hot wire cutter so have nothing to compare it too. But think I'm going to stick to using a bread knife as its cheaper and quicker.
