EASTPAK Unisex Delegate + Delegate + (pack of 1)

I got this and the smaller version for £52! The larger one from the website is £55, so get this! This bag is seriously lightweight but very tough and strong too. It’s roomy but not unwieldy. The ability to lower it via the long strap seems to make it lighter too, or in crowded trains have the strap high up for compactness. There are not loads of annoying small zipped pockets that never get used, apart from a long one actually on the flap say for a4 sheets. One on the outside at the back that faces your body and a couple of open pockets just under the flap. There’s a simple but effective padded part for a laptop inside. There is a long zip as well as the main flap that keeps everything in. Because its so light you can carry it with a few things and not feel you are lugging unnecessary weight around, but always be ready to add more stuff as you go around. Love it!

Build quality on the bag is good. Annoyance is the strap twists within the plastic loop when carried over shoulder. Could benefit from an internal zip pocket too.

* Physical This line of Eastpak luggage and bags is they are all very well made. It's available in many colours. And I believe it's made in Vietnam. Its fabric is a tightly woven cloth that's very robust. These bags last me a few years of daily usage. I do health walks seven days a week and I cart around stuff useful to me. And it gets hammered but it's well worth it. Based on repeated purchases of this bag over five years the same fault requires a purchase of a new bag: the buckle. I have used three of the same bags over several years and it's so helpful and convenient.

I am a languages teacher and I move around schools and classes 4 times a week. So I needed a bag that could take my planner , water bottle , pencil case and other resources without needing to put everything in “strategically” to make everything fit in. Well this bag is amazing , it is very spacious and it takes my A4 sized ( chunky) planner and everything else I throw in it when I’m rushing from class to class . It is roomy and lightweight yet sturdy. It has enough pockets to fit in things like keys, wallet, phone , charger , etc … I love it and would recommend it .

Amazon sometimes attaches reviews to the wrong item. To avoid the confusion this causes, let me be clear that this is a review of the Eastpak Delegate+ messenger bag. As you will see below, + does not always mean better. Eastpak bags are extremely good at dealing with the British weather and, unlike other bags I've owned, they have always kept the contents dry. This is their main strength. Externally they are hard wearing; but the weak point is the internal coating, which breaks down over time. My previous messenger lasted almost ten years before this happened and it is worth noting that the 30 year warranty does not cover this failure. The bag became unusable because of the irritation caused by tiny bits of the coating coming off and making items I was carrying feel as thought they had grains of sand stuck to them. This version of the product is a downgrade compared with the earlier messenger I needed to replace. If you are looking to replace an old messenger, there are disappointing differences. The earlier version had a strap that unclipped and swivelled on its fixings to align with your body, so it did not get twisted. The strap on the newer version does not unclip or swivel: one end is stiched directly to the bag and the other end runs through a plastic loop to allow the strap to be lengthened. This means the strap bunches up at one edge of the plastic loop, which is unsightly and makes the bag much less comfortable to wear. It appears that the clip-on strap is still a feature on the smaller JR messenger bags, so if you can get away with a smaller messenger this may be worth considering instead fo the Delegate +. The earlier version could also be expanded to increase its capacity by undoing a zip. In the product description, some of the manufacturer's pictures still (as viewed on 23/03/2026) show the older version of the bag and highlight the expanding capacity, which is extremely misleading. Do not be taken in by this, there is definitely no expansion on the current product. The internal zip pocket running the full width of the bag on the earlier version has been replaced by a padded pocket held closed by a velcro strap. This is the one feature that could be viewed as a plus because it can be useful to have that extra padding to protect a laptop or tablet. I suspect that the driving force behind the unwelcome design changes is cost cutting, but the current offering not longer justifies the price tag. What Eastpack has succeeded in doing is damaging their reputation for good design and turning a five star product into a product that only just scrapes three stars. If 2.5 stars had been an option, I would probably have settled on that.

I bought this as a bag to take on holiday, at short notice as my old bag broke after 10 years service. The intended use was to carry my Kindle, coat and other items. It's ok but the material is thin and looking at the seams I don't think it will last long. It has an internal pocket for a laptop, but this lacks good protection and other than this there are no dividers in the zipped portion of the bag requiring a hunt for anything smaller than an iPad. The pockets on the front of the bag don't have a closure so aren't really useful and the front flap pocket is a poor design for putting stuff in. Given the cost, there will likely be better options out there. I'd have sent it back if I didn't need it urgently.

I needed a bag for travelling on aircraft, where I could take my laptop, medicines, snacks, power packs and other bits’n’bobs. This messenger bag was a decent price and I was confident enough buying the Eastpak brand. It’s good quality and really roomy. I’ve managed to fit my MacBook Pro and a ton of other stuff in it with no problems, and I’ve never had an issue taking it on board aircraft together with my carry-on case. if you need a bag like this, I can definitely recommend it.
