The multifocal idea for 'readers' actually does work for these spectacles. No need to deal with 15 and 2.0 and 2.5 focal lengths
To agree with earlier favorable reviews, my specific situation is this: Had cataract surgery early today (Aug 23, '18) with (now) both eyes done "far" and thus, need for "readers" for close work. I ordered in advance, the 1.0 model of these items, and after just a 1/2 day of using them, I hope they don't break at the frames, because.... with the dilations wearing off, I can already see how my distance vision - say, flatscreen HD at about 8-10 feet - my vision in both eyes is almost as crisp as my (now) 20/20 vision in both eyes with my new intraocular lenses. And yes - the "multifocus" idea does work, even as my today's surgical dilations wear off, in that my close vision is sharp, up to about 2-1/2 feet away and on out to the TV. I'm impressed, and I use a laptop on a chair-arm support to use the internet as we all do, and this makes it possible to watch TV and do the closer work (not REAL close, like 1 or 2 feet away) - do the closer work with ease of vision. Note: the farthest focus is at the top of the lens, and with the 1.0 mag I ordered, there is just slight magnification at the top of the lens. At the bottom it's about a 2.0 focus requirement. Good product. If the frames DO break, I would consider buying two more pairs, until I tire of replacing them or buy prescription trifocals to make life easy. I wear this single pair of spex, constantly. I would add, now on Sept. 19, that fully recovered from cat surgery, I can read with one pair of these multifocals, up to one foot away; and for "far", I can see clearly up to ten + feet away. Further, and there is slight magnification, so for say, driving, I don't use anything over my eyes save perhaps for plain sunglesses; closer than a foot? I use a 2.0 or even a 2.5 for very close work. Great product! Second update: Uh oh! Now, on Sept 22, '18, the hinges suddenly ? have begun to work loose from the frames, same as described in many earlier reviews. I'll buy another two pairs, and if quality control not improved for this subsequent purchase, I'll look for other brands. I LOVE these multifocals, as they work wonderfully, technically - but if the hinges continue to break, I'd recommend avoiding them. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment....

Quality seems to have gone down
I have had 3-4 pairs of these exact same glasses over the past few years and they hold up well. The latest run appears to have not made to the same standard. They still look good and work properly, however the frames don’t appear of the same sturdy quality that I am used to although price is the same. Hopefully they will last. The pair from above review lasted a year before frame around lens cracked which wasn’t bad for the price. The above pair were only used around the house for ready and not abused. Just ordered another pair to replace them and appear of the same quality except the original pair had wire support through the temple part of frames. The new pair that I just received did not which I’m sure is a cost saving measure not reflected in purchase price that has gone up. Hopefully the new pair will last a year again.

One pair to rule them all.
Best I've ever had. No yellow or red tint like the blue blockers. Used them for everything. Watching TV, using computer, reading and close up detail work. Now I can store the other 7 pair of various strength glasses I have in various rooms. Ordered 2 more pair. As noted in some reviews, hinge attachment to frame is iffy. Going to gorilla glue them. Been 1.5 years since cataract surgery and finally found the right pair. Excellent fit, light weight and they stay up.

Stop looking over the tops of your readers!
Finally! You can leave these on and see up close and far away. The top is clear, the bottom magnifies, and it transitions in between. No more repetition of putting readers on the top of your head and then back on again to look at your phone. I like this style because it’s sturdy.

Looks great until the arms start to break off like everyone else said..
At first I was super excited to get these frames since they were Multi-focal but, I was a little hesitant since a few buyers said the arms snap or come loose or break off. I bit the bullet...got the frames, enjoyed them for all of a week and guess what...same issue as all the other people on the internet and Amazon, the arm started to fall off. Apparently this is a global defect as I examined them up close (see pictures) and the metal on the hinge snapped in half! I purchased an exact pair from Walmart and the same thing happened in 2 days! I returned them and went to Walgreens and low and behold same issue happened a week later. Although these looked great and I got a lot of compliments, I would say that the quality is great, the workmanship is very poor (the hinges and the glue are poorly done).

Perfect for Old Eyes with no stigmatism...
Purchased for night riding my MC, my eyes are just old, no need to spend $600 on prescription clear lenses. The multi focal technology is off the hook good. You can wear them all day and see like you were 25 again. You purchase based on your regular dime store reading glass strength, the upper and mid lense strengths are lower, so no feeling distorted when moving thru your day. Frames hold up fairly to well, the plastic frames can fail unexpectantly after a year or so if daily wear, they all seem to break in the same spot on the lower lense area, but for this price but 20 of them! Also, these will fit a woman's face too, again, purchased many other ladies styles for daily wear but this style goes in my saddlebag!! I am 61 yrs young!

I really like these glasses, but I have to say after buying quite a few pairs they always seem to break easily.

Delivery was slow; I hadn't noticed they were coming from the USA. But they look good - classic Foster Grants - and they are great for close work such as reading and further away reading when working on a computer screen. Some Varifocals can take a little time to get used to; these didn't. Highly recommended!
