Surprisingly this works good.
I bought this for my daughter who is almost 6, and has hair almost to the bottom of her butt but refuses to let me trim it. So you can imagine the mess of tangles I deal with. When it came in I thought, this seems really cheap quality, I doubt it will work. The black bristles are just small and plasticy and I don't know it just seems so cheap, anyways I gently started trying it out on her hair and wonder of all wonders there was no complaints. Now I did use it slowly and gently like I did with her other brush hoping to prevent any crys of outrage but with her other brush it didn't matter what I did , hair time was not a fun time and always ended with her grabbing her head and crying out. With this brush though as long as I went gently there was no complaints. I have now used it on her with wet hair, tangled hair, frosting in her hair ( lol), and I also use it just to do her hair such as in a ponytail. It actually does a great job of smoothing down her hair for what ever style she wants done. I was impressed. I asked her what she thought of it and she says , " it feels good, its like it gives me a head scratch." LOL. So apparently the little plastic bristles feel good on her head so I think we have a winner. We have been using it for a couple of weeks and it seems to me that she is more willing to have her hair combed now and doesn't run from me when its time to do her hair to go out.

THIS BRUSH IS AMAZING!!! BUY IT!
My 5-year-old HATES brushing her hair. It's a fight every single time, with crying and screaming and whining over the smallest tangles and tension when brushing. This brush CHANGED OUR LIFE, literally! She has some sensory sensitivity related to her hair/scalp and while using this brush and a detangling spray, she did not cry a single tear, nor whine or fuss while brushing out her hair after bath, and before she knew it, she had smooth, soft, tangle free hair. We both cried happy tears. BUY THIS BRUSH!!!

Not entirely pain free, but WAY better than other brushes!
I purchased 2 of these (in pink, of course!) in a desperate attempt to deal with my 6 and 8 year old daughters' hair knot issues. One has very long hair and the other has curly hair, and both have sensory issues, so you can imagine how fun hair brushing time is around our place! I sought them out and bought them on the recommendation of a friend wih 6 young kids (no joke) who all have curls. The claims that it makes brushing pain FREE are bogus. No small child is going to sit there happily smiling and whistling while you untangle the matted rat's nest that is the back of their head, no matter WHAT brush you're using. (Actually for those big mats, a wide toothed comb can piece it out better than any brush anyway.) On the other hand, this is way better than a regular brush, and saves us SO many battles and tantrums, it was worth 100X the purchase price in the harmony it has brought to our home! The bristles do have pointy ends. I think that's on purpose, to let hair slip easily over the bristles without catching. So you have to be careful not to scratch the scalp with it. Use gentle pressure, less than you would with other brushes. Like ANY brush, start at the ends and work up. With these it helps to brush against something, so take a section of hair and brush it against your palm or the child's back. It reminds me slightly of carding wool. The bristles are so flexible that any tangles that catch don't yank, but the repeated catching from different levels and direction does get them out. We've had ours for several months now and are so glad. They have lasted and are easy for even my 6 year old to use. So no, they're no magic wand for messy tangles... but they're a definite step up from a regular brush battle.

It feels so good on my scalp.
Really gets out the tangles with less pull. As an adult I bought two for myself.

Best comb for the morning routine
Another dad recommended this one to me and my 10 year old daughter couldn't be happier with it. It detangles her hair with ease, and doesn't hurt at all. I love it do much that I bought a spare JIC I misplace the first one.

Much less painful for my daughter but it is cheaply made and difficult to hold
After fighting every morning with my daughter over brushing her hair, I decided there HAD to be a better way to get these knots out without feeling like I'm trying to skin a cat alive. So, this was my first pass. The bristles are nice and small without that weird ball end most womens brushes have (Why are those little devil fingers there anyway?) and was much more gentle on her poor fragile little head. So, 3 stars because it did make brushing much less painful (yes, I've tried using hair conditioner and we use proper hygiene protocols so as to avoid massive, nasty rats nests) but the brush suffers from two fatal flaws. First, this thing is made for a person with dinky little hands. It is next to impossible to hold on to (something my wife claims she pointed out to me prior to buying it but I don't believer her). Its shiny, smooth plastic and has nothing that aids in gripping the dang thing, it just constantly slips out of my hands. The second flaw is its poor quality materials. After the first few uses, the top separated from the bristles. I keep having to try and super glue it back together. The bristles are also pretty soft (may be why it pulls a lot less) so after a few months use, they seem to bend in all kinds of directions and seem to be a bit less effective at getting that silky smooth, freshly brushed hair look. It does cause less pain and is only OK in my book. I definitely wouldn't recommend it, given there seem to be a lot of other options out there, but I also have yet to find that one super magical kids brush that lacks those little bristles of death and destruction that so many brushes have...

Love it!!!
This brush works so well. My long grey hair gets matted when I sleep. The Knot Genie easily takes out all the tangles without pulling. I will order more for my travels.

The only brush that doesn’t cause tears
My toddler can easily tolerate her hair being brushed with this and I have one for myself (my hair is fine and tangles easily). A cheaper buy elsewhere but when you need delivery, is worth it.

Actually works!
I bought this for my son after trying heaps of different brushes and detangling sprays. He has always been very sensitive about brushing his hair, I’d almost given up when I saw this brush recommended online. I have no idea how it works, but my son is now happy to have his hair brushed and has even started doing it himself without being asked. That might not sound like a lot, but to me it’s a miracle after years of stress. Highly, highly recommend, especially for kids who try to avoid hairbrushes!
