At the beginning of the Sixties, Nando Dell'Orto, a famous motorboat racer, decided to put a 12 cylinder Ferrari engine on a 3 point hull prepared by the Cantieri Timossi shipyard. The hull was designed for inboard races (class 800 kgs). The engine was, in turn, prepared by Rinaldo Tinarelli, who was known as "the wizard" . The structure of the hull was made of wooden joists covered with marine plywood, adding to the sleek design we see today. Both engine and stern were colored in Ferrari red and decorated with Ferrari markings, making the vessel a clear symbol of power and aggressiveness. The Limited Edition Arno XI Ferrari kit includes a ready made fiberglass hull, completely planked with mahogany wood ready to be varnished. The superstructure is pre-made in one matt-white, fiberglass piece ready to be painted. The seat, cabin padding, and headrest are hand made, ready sewn and covered with red simulated leather. All fittings, accessories, and exhaust pipes are cast in solid brass/chrome plated. Lastly, this kit includes very detailed photo-etched parts for a museum quality finish.
