Ingenious and Effective
When the bulb in the panel light on my microwave burned out, I thought replacing it would be a snap, but when the bulb itself snapped away from the base, I realized it would be anything but. Of course, I turned to the internet for a solution to get the base out of the socket. I had tried needle nose pliers, but they just mangled the base but did nothing to make it unscrew. The internet offered a couple of solutions, one involved a potato, and the other, this Broken Bulb Changer. I looked at the item and instantly saw that it should work, and it did.. I had to take away a few layers of product to fit the tool in the space, but once I did, it fit perfectly in the appliance bulb socket. I turned counter clockwise a few times and immediately could feel the base unscrewing from the socket. A few more turns, and it was out. Excellent product!! The kit comes with a small and large extractor so should be good for any size bulb that breaks. It even has an adapter that allows you to attach it to a pole if you have to reach a socket high up. I couldn't be happier with the purchase and definitely recommend it to anyone with a similar problem.

This thing works great!
This is worth it's weight in gold. Worked as described. Follow simple instructions and you will get the job done. You have to supply your own pole. I used a Christmas light pole that I use to apply Christmas lighting. It is made of fiberglass, which is great because we didn't have access to the breakers.

This is garbage and doesn’t work!
This product did not work as expected. After the first use, the head became stuck in the sealing bulb, making it impossible to remove. Unfortunately, it also failed to assist in removing the broken bulb, rendering it unusable. Very disappointing experience.

Yes, it works!
This gadget does work well. The only problem I had, was the handle was a bit too long, making it difficult to reach into the small cavity where my broken bulb was located (the under side of a wall mounted microwave, above my stove). But I managed it after a few tries. It’s a handy tool and great value for money.

Lifesaver for high up broken ceiling lights
This was a lifesaver for me. I had a light bulb break in a ceiling light while I was trying to change it. The problem was that the light was about 26 feet high...I thought I would have to hire a handyman to figure this out because I had no idea how to remove it. I have an extension pole that I use for changing bulbs and came across this broken bulb gadget. I cannot believe how well this worked to get the entire bulb out of the socket. The broken pieces did tear up the rubber end, but hey...that's still much cheaper than hiring a company to change a single light.

Works, but tricky and will shower you with glass shards.
They do work, but you had better be wearing full safety goggles, if working above your head. Usually they break off parts of the bulb, and shower you with small glass pieces. Dangerous, and could use a shield like collector attachment. Also, if the socket is angled, they only work straight in. We had to make an adapter to get into those.

Great product, with or without a pole
I bought one of these kits for myself at our vacation residence, and another as a present for my brother-in-law, and I intend to buy yet another for our home.I like these changers because they ... just ... work, both of them, on both sizes of sockets, even on the end of a pole extended ten feet above your head. They don't help with the fact the pole wobbles and I get dizzy standing on my arthritic knees staring straight up, but they SURE BEAT climbing the ten foot ladder and THEN wobbling and staring! My brother-in-law was visiting and took over the wobbling/staring, and he raved about how well it worked (hence, the present from me to him).My sister-in-law (different husband) said she uses a potato and it works. I'm skeptical, but maybe that's just because I've never seen it done. Plus, I don't know where to find potatoes that screw onto the end of a pole.Anyway, no present for her!I'm trying real hard to find something bad to say about the Bayco... nope, giving up on that. Why am I buying yet another one for myself? Because I'm typing this in the dark because a steenking ceiling light burned out, and I'm going to have to change it (that's a different Bayco product), and with MY luck the bulb will break. Is it just me, or do folks use air impact wrenches to install bulbs in ceiling fixtures? The same wrenches they use on your car, so when you have a flat tire you need Roadside Gorilla Service to get it off?And why do all the ceiling fixtures come loose and rotate with the bulb? No, the Bayco doesn't help with that... hey, THERE'S a flaw I can write about... that, and the fact that "The Bayco Broken Bulb Changer makes a terrible cup of coffee!"What about the shredding problem? Haven't seen it, but even if it happens I will be happy to try to repair the unit or buy another. Tools don't always solve every problem... when a rusted nut breaks off you don't blame the wrench... well, actually I do, but later I always apologize to the wrench. The Bayco is an emergency repair tool, NOT an ordinary-use product like a coffee maker (uh oh, there's that coffee analogy again). Plus, ten Bayco's cost less than one electrician's visit, and I've had to get THAT for a problem bulb.OK, so yes... I recommend this product. Even if you don't have a pole... my brother-in-law climbed the ladder and used the Bayco by hand because he had to hold the loose fixture with the other hand.
