Nice looking, great value, good kettle!
A lovely kettle! Great price too. Having had a major brand suddenly stop working at 11pm last night nooooooo... ordered this, here by 9.30am today. Very quiet, not a fast boil, but does actually boil totally, as another thing I've noticed some kettles switch off literally as it bubbles, this most definitely reaches boiling before switching off, meaning tea doesnt taste like dish water!! Highly recommend for such a great price!

excellent and practical buy
This kettle is an excellent, practical buy. The digital display is a huge upgrade, making it easy to set the exact temperature you need for different drinks. Boiling speed is fast, and the Keep Warm function is a convenient feature for busy mornings. It feels sturdy with the stainless steel design, and the Strix controller provides reliable performance. A simple, efficient appliance that gets the job done without any fuss. Great value for the price.

Solid, reliable, fast boiling.
This Amazon Basics electric kettle hits the sweet spot between affordability and functionality. Cranks out a full kettle (1.7 L, mind you) in what feels like no time—thanks to the hefty 3000 W heating element, so mornings don’t have to involve arm-flapping impatience. The matte black finish gives it some minimal flair, and surprisingly the only plastic you touch is the inside (BPA-free), so nothing nasty gets into your tea. The design is sensibly thought-out: cordless pour-off from a 360° base, neat cord storage, auto shut-off, boil-dry protection, and a Strix thermostat—basically built like a tank for daily use. The removable scale filter is a small win if you’re not into mineral gunk. User feedback echoes what you’d expect—mostly “good value” and “quiet enough”—but with a couple of gripes about boil speed or lid quirks. Still, most folks genuinely love it. Bottom line: You’re getting a workhorse kettle that doesn’t pretend to be fancy, looks decent enough on your countertop, and won’t destroy your budget. A solid buy.

Temperature control kettle on a budget...
This is our first kettle with a temperature control function, and after just a few months of owning this, it's hard to imagine going back to a "normal" kettle. As an Amazon Basics Kettle, the design and build are okay, and seem about right given the price. It feels like a cheap kettle. But it is a cheap kettle, so that's okay. The temperature control works in 5 degree increments, and you simply set the temperature you want, and start it going. The keep warm function has its own button, so that's simple too. The little display shows the temperature settings as you adjust, or the temperature of the water when the kettle is on. The lid is easy to open, and although it doesn't open back as far as some kettles (barely 90 degrees), it is easy enough to fill. The spout is well designed and pours perfectly with no drips. The kettle is not super quiet, but an advantage of the temperature control (especially for making hot drinks) is that the temperature is usually going to be 75-90 degrees, so never reaches boiling point, so avoids that loud boiling instance. Another advantage of staying below boiling point is you get hardly any steam from the kettle. As for the drinks, I personally drink black coffee, so being able to set it to 85 degrees, and have a cup of coffee that is the perfect temperature right out of the kettle is great. No need to wait, or add some cold water. And no waisted energy heating the water beyond the necessary temperature. The keep warm function doesn't work indefinitely. But it is useful for having the water ready for top ups or second cups. Since the kettle is not a double wall, it would be inefficient to use the keep warm function beyond that use case anyway. The temperature control is so convenient, and probably worth the price difference when compared to budget kettles lacking this feature. And two months later, so far so good. Recommended.

Basic price, not basic kettle
Surprisingly good. Doesn't look cheap and works better than my old temperature controlled kettle. This one has a neat feature where when you set the temperature for heating or 'keep warm', it remembers the setting after you turn off. All my previous ones, you had to set the temperature each time and it always defaulted to 100C. It's not a fast boil type as it only has a 2kW element. The one thing I miss from my previous kettle is that it would beep when it was done, which was useful when it was set to stop before boiling, so you wouldn't hear it gurgling and with no mechanical switch, there's no 'click' noise either. Be careful with the outside jug temperature though, as this kettle does not have a double skin so the outside stainless steel jug will be as hot as the water inside.

Nice kettle - more visible water-level would be nice
This kettle is stylish to look at, and quiet in operation. I like the fact the water temperature can be selected. I’d give it 5* if only it didn’t have one quite bad design fault: the water-level is very difficult to see: the window section is right behind the handle, and since it’s not back-lit it’s pretty well invisible. Shame - a window on the side would have been so much more functional.
