It stopped working after a week (Updated)
***UPDATED REVIEW***I loved the features of this mp3 player too much to just give up on the first refurbished player sent by dealfisher. I had to file a return, which they promptly honoured at no cost to me. So, what did I do? I ordered another from dealfisher! Hahaha. Ah, this could be terrible and when the second one failed, I thought I did make a terrible choice. However, I looked up on-line about Sansa Clip+ shutting off on its own and noticed this was a problem encountered by others before. The trick to getting it working again is to just reset the player by pressing the [OFF/ON] button for 30 seconds. That should get it kick-started again. The player may shut off again and you have to do it again. This happened twice to me within the same day, but did not happen at all after that.I love this player. I take it everywhere I go. I bought the 32GB SDHC and now I have a 40GB player for the cost of $50! It's excessive, but cool to see that a device smaller than an iPod has that kind of storage space for a fraction of one. The only downside I see nowadays is that I can't hook it up any docking devices or speakers - and that it doesn't play formats other than mp3.I definitely recommend this for anyone who wants to get a player on the cheap and who doesn't want to bother with anything Apple or Microsoft-related.******************************************************I've only had it for a week. The first thing I noted is that the battery life was nowhere near 17 hours, but around 8 hours. It is very simple to use, though, so I thought I could live with it by charging it every night, Also, this MP3 player has a microdisc slot where you can put in a 32GB memory card, which are awesome features. However, this refurbished Sansa Clip stopped working altogether for no reason. It won't turn on, it won't charge - nothing. Now I have to contact Amazon to return this defective player, as they won't replace it.

Beware of warranty on refurbished...There isn't one!
Two huge problems with this player, which I liked otherwise while it worked.1. They do not tell you that refurbished ONLY comes with Amazon's return policy. FYI, this product has a roughly ONE MONTH warranty (thanks to Amazon) with nothing from SanDisk. The non-refurbished page clearly states that SanDisk's warranty is one year for their MP3 products. On the refurbished product page, there is nothing in the description about the warranty coverage differing. They make the point that they are 'factory' refurbished - giving the impression that it was returned or otherwise had an issue, but was rendered as good as new by the factory. You are getting a little break in the price for dealing with a factory renewed item instead of a brand new one. What is the point of 'factory refurbishing' if the process is so unreliable they offer ZERO coverage for products that have gone through it? When the hardware tanks on the consumer after a few months, no one is on the hook for anything: Too bad so sad, buy another one. Well this was already number 2.My low rating is mainly from the missing/misleading information in the sales process. 'Factory refurbished' implies brought up to some factory standard and almost as good, and the price reflects that - at $40 vs $48. The important fact about the coverage that would have helped me in my decision is omitted from the description page. The actual warranty (the promise that it will work) is 8.3% of the regular one, while the price is 83%.2. The other problem with this is that I guess they just aren't a well designed product. My first (full warranty one) broke with various pieces dying internally, starting AFTER the one year warranty - first the power button, then the headphone jack, until it was only usable as a wired MP3 data storage device in by car. People get duds, so I gave it a chance got the same (refurb) unit again and the screen scrambled and memory failed completely after a couple months and very few uses.Advice? Never buy refurbished ever. Spend on the full warranty one or go without. If you can't afford the extra $8-10, you certainly can't afford to spring $40 for a (very small) rectangular paperweight that you can contemplate while listening to commercials on the radio.

Great Product Great Price
This SanDisk Sansa Clip was a Christmas gift for my wife. I had read a few of the other reviews and was a little hesitant to buy it because other people had reported having the same issue that required them sending it back in the first place even after it was "refurbished". For the price this is a LOT of storage for MP3's or music files. And it has an expandable micro sd slot for even more if you want (though personally I can't see having more than 8 gigs of music you'd want to listen to at any one time).I did find that when we received it the device failed almost immediately - but I did a factory reset (hold the power button down for about two minutes) as the instructions directed and since then it has worked flawlessly. My wife uses it for her business (she's a massage therapist) so we bought some SanDisk compatible speakers. And she uses it with an armband for her runs/workouts.It's very small and versatile and the sound quality is amazing for a device this small. Based on Price, Capacity, Quality and durability I'd definitely give this thing 5 stars.

Nothing spectacular, a very good unit that needs more volume
I was not overwhelmed with this unit because I am an older person and have to get used to tiny little boxes that do a couple dozen things that need to to be practiced, understood and implemented. That said, I cannot imagine it being done much better. With one exception. As sent the audio is not loud enough. I would appreciate that the makers give all users the option for a louder output, without their having to scan the San-disk internet pages for a "behind the scenes" fix up. A high grade ear set, like my new Sony, requires more audio output but some federal watchdog outfit has forced the maker to send their units with minimal output and without any hint of how to fix this. The fix is found in their Questions and Answers and involves re-setting the unit to other than a U.S. standard.I fixed mine. Now I like the unit fine.Bob
