Best Deal Ever
I'm no stranger to paying for convenience, but this is honestly a great product that I will use for years before I'll shell out hundreds of dollars for those electric vacuum systems. Pros: Price = CHEAP! And it uses no electricity. Storage - in the drawer Ease - it truly is easy to use. Common sense required. Con: There was a learning curve for me when trying it out on the bags that come in the box. It took some time for me to figure out it's all about the operator. Whatevs. I didn't purchase this pump for the bags, I purchased it to use with wide-mouth mason jars and a food saver attachment. For that, it WORKS PERFECTLY. Simply pump the air out of the mason jar until it becomes difficult to pump, and voila! Fresh food that keeps for easily twice as long as usual. My mason jar salad that I pack on Sunday is crisp and fresh, the following Friday at lunch!

Works with my Foodsaver lid attachment for sealing jars
I bought this item (at Walmart, much cheaper!) to use on canning jars. I have a Foodsaver with the canning jar attachments, which I use to vacuum seal dry goods like coffee and spices. I wanted a non-electric way to vacuum the lids down, and someone told me to try this Ziplock pump. It works really well! The soft rubber mouth of the pump fits right over the opening on the attachment (Where the tube normally goes). About 20 pumps and the canning jar lid was securely vacuumed on. The pump is heavy-duty plastic and should last for a very long time - I'm very happy with it, for the way I plan to use it. This should NOT be used to seal wet food items, as it is not a substitute for canning or refrigeration. Only use it on dry foods that can be stored on a shelf - flour, sugar, salt, rice, spices, etc. P.S. I had a "seal-a-meal" battery operated vacuum thing years ago, and the bags were awful (wouldn't hold a seal). From reading the other reviews on this item, it sounds like the Ziplock bags are no better. But the pump is amazing!

Great product
This product works exactly as advertised. The baggies lose their seal over time (a couple of weeks,) but can be re-vacuumed if needed. The pump also works extremely well with the FoodSaver mason jar sealers, both wide-mouth and regular sizes. This makes it great for camping or power outages, and is also an economical alternative to the FoodSaver machine, which is quite expensive. Just place the pump over the hole where the sealer hose would be connected and pump 10 to 15 times. (There are videos on YouTube about how to do this.) A sealed mason jar does NOT lose its seal over time like the baggies do.

?Cheap for good reason
Not all vacuum products are the same, some are far better & as for this pump, you'll have to take the good with the bad, You be the judge. This product works well on products met to be kept at room temp, Good luck if the temp is to be freezing, those bags just don't stay sealed at low temps. At this low price, no real complaints.

Simply doesn't hold a vacuum
I bought into the ziploc vacuum system (pump and a ton of extra bags) hoping to use it for sous vide cooking and occasional storing/freezing. I'm sorry to say that these bags fail miserably at both. The pump is a clever little handheld device that you pump manually to suck air out of a hole on the bags. The first problem is that the "one way valve" on the bags must be placed flat on a surface for you to pump from it. This means that the upper right corner of the bag must be empty in order for you to pump air out of it. So a 1 quart bag isn't really one quart, it's about 2-3 cups. The second problem is that the valves on the bags themselves are flimsy affairs made of a wafer thin piece of plastic and some cheap adhesive. It just doesn't hold a vacuum, period. You suck all the air out of a bag and all looks great. Well go take a look 10 minutes later and the bag is full of air again! The food you preserved in your fridge/freezer is no more protected than it would be from a regular ziploc bag, and if you attempted to cook sous vide with these (like I did) your food is now waterlogged. I tried using this pump and bag system maybe 15 times, and not once have I found the results satisfactory. It always loses the vacuum and lets air in.

Good and Useful Product
I have used wine sealers for years and was interested in finding a product that I could use for freezer and for bread products to keep them fresh longer. I note some reviewers find that the seal does not hold and I too find that to be true. Also, it can take a goodly number of pumps to evacuate the air. It is for these reasons I considered giving it 4 stars but decided that for what the product does 5 stars still deserved since even with the limitations I find that this product works well for me. To save bags when using to store meat or other items that would require disposing of a bag after use I use regular zip lock bags of smaller size and put these in the gallon size leaving the regular bags open. Then when I evacuate the air the outside vacuum bag seals all. This way I do not have to throw these more expensive bags away after just one use. For bread and items that would not require you to pitch the bag after use I just use the vacuum bag. It can take 30-40 pumps to evacuate the air from the gallon size so I generally fold and evacuate as much as possible before sealing. It is not difficult to pump despite the number of pumps that may be needed. And care in sealing will help to hold the seal longer. I have found this helps a great deal to avoid freezer burn and is much easier to get to the product inside than other sealing systems that may seal better but are much more expensive and far more difficult to open and once opened cannot be resealed. With these you can open to take out a few items e.g., peppers I grew in summer and put in freezer to use in winter in chili and you can then reseal easily. Trade offs between this system and the other sealing systems, but for me and for the money this works extremely well.

保存用に購入しました。真空パックになりました。便利ですが、もう少し安くなったら良いですね。

Very inexpensive food sealer, handy, works well for a few weeks in the freezer. The vacuum does lose its seal after these few weeks but it is so easy to repump. It does not need to take up space on a counter & can just be slipped into a drawer. Would buy again. As Amazon.ca is the only place I found to purchase this product, although it is available in the US, I contacted S C Johnson & told them how pleased I was with their product and that they should place it in grocery stores next to Ziploc bags.
