I've tried a bunch of these feeder types and all are way too big for my finches. For whatever reason, they like to stand in their food dishes/feeders which of course means everyone poops in the food. This feeder is small enough that they can't really stand in the food part and when they do, their little butt isn't over the food, so POOP AWAY!! I did have to cut some tabs to make it fit in the space in my cage, but that took a scissor and five seconds. Not easy to clean without removing it. Plastic was a bit warped and I had to press hard to shut the lid, but no big deal. I've only had it about a week, but I did order 2 more because it's working just fine for what I wanted.... minimizes mess on the floor and poop in the food.

If you are a person with a small bird like a parakeet and you are always busy and can’t keep up with the food refill, then get this. It prevents messes and on the floor and in the cage. And you probably will just have to refill with food about maybe every other week. I literally go 2 weeks with no refill and good thing is the bird eats everything so I’m not trashing excess food that was left on the bottom of the dish. I won’t say it’s the perfect fit. It’s not tall enough for it to fit perfect on my cage.

Ready... spent 40 years on the plastic injection molding business.....we did custom products that we build per the customers drawings...along the way we would advise if they wanted a cheap product to go to the molders on the other side of town... this feeder had bad engineering, causing the part to be to thin and warped so much that the mating part would not fit....my wife gave it to me and I couldn't make it fit either... poor grade of cheap plastic...how much regrind looks like too much...too fast of cycle time...drill a hole for the screw but they left a huge burr in the inside that would have to me cut off...drill speed too fast and melted the plastic....life of this product is max 6-12 months ? This makes me be a lot more careful as to what I purchase on Amazon now. with a made in China label ,should I even have thought abought buying this... Now hard lesson learned...I have to go to a pet store and open a box and look at the next one to avoid running into this mess again.. sorry folks 2 thumbs down...I wish I had more thumbs.

This works great for cutting down on mess, however the plastic that hooks onto cage broke after two days. Luckily, my cage is large enough to contain it inside on the floor. My parakeets like to get their food at higher levels, so they choose this one last. They only used it when it was perched few inches off floor. I wish I purchased a higher quality product even if it costs more because now it’s almost useless. I’ve had it now for about 2 months, but they only used it when I first bought it and it hung on cage. Of course I’m sure they would still use if that was their only food source. I just wished it still had the plastic part that connects to cage bars still on.

I love the concept of this feeder. It holds plenty of food to last my parakeets while I go away on short trips, and the opening at the bottom is actually large enough for the pellets to drop through- a huge issue I've been running into while searching for the right feeder. Every other feeder's opening was way too small and the pellets would clog up at the opening. This one's perfect. I'm a little bummed that I couldn't mount it from the outside of the cage as shown, because that would be extremely convenient, but that's to no fault of the feeder- my cage doors are flip-spring loaded. That's okay. My birds loved to climb inside their open feeder and scratch/kick all the food out of it, and this one keeps them from being able to get in there to make a mess. I took away one star because on arrival, the plastic was very warped (you might be able to see in the first photo) so that I can't easily place the lid on it securely without having to push and pry it into place. I need the feeder right away and I don't have time to return for an exchange, so I'm hoping the plastic loosens up and molds the way it's supposed to with time. That's the only negative comment I have on it. Overall, I'm glad I kept searching and found this feeder because it meets my needs extremely well. It's worth the money for sure.

It doesnt fit my bird cage. And its very flimsy.

My canaries and finches would leave a mess of seeds shells around the cage, but this feeder it just perfect. The birds go inside and the side walls contain the spill, plus it has a drawer at the bottom that pulls out so you can top off the feeder. It will pay for itself in no time as there is no food wastage. i only wished I had ordered it sooner.

I've just bought this product for the third time. This one is for my brother's birds. I love how we can install this outside the cage so it takes no room away from birdy. However I do have to customize it to fit in between the cage's wires as it it too big to fit in one one the feeding doors. It is worth the trouble. It really minize the mess and it is so much more affordable than the acrylic ones. I'm very happy with this product. I will buy again if the occasion presents itself..

Il est vrai que ça fait moins de dégâts, mais mes oiseaux la vide en entier sans manger tous les graines à chaque jour, Max 2... donc je leur repasse la nourriture 2-3x pour diminuer le gaspillage!

Saves a lot of cleaning as the wast is caught in the drawer. Also, at least 25% of the seed is recoverable which means it won't take long to pay for itself. I recommend it.
