Beautiful & Well-Made Acupressure Mat =) AnjaMat >> Pranamat, Spoonk, Bed of Nails, etc.
(Comparison Photos: Turquoise Mat = 'Spoonk' Brand, Pink Mat = 'Bed of Nails' Brand)I've been laying on a Spoonk mat for a couple of years and was always happy with that product. When I came across Pranamat, I was really interested in trying it but couldn't justify the price of their mat - I suspected that the shape of the lotus spikes would make a difference, and I can confirm that they do. Although the spikes on other mats are still effective, I think these particular lotus spikes provide "deeper" relief. Compared to other mats, the pain/stimulation feeling is more superficial. I wish I could describe the feeling in a better way, but can't articulate it very well. To the touch, the lotus spikes don't feel as spiky as the generic spikes, but when you lay on it - it feels like it's penetrating deeper into the muscle (in a good way). I do have low blood pressure and weigh ~135 lbs (5'7" height) ... just throwing that out there because these mats might be too intense for some people. I also lay on the mat on top of my bed instead of the floor, which also makes it less intense.I've never seen a Pranamat in person, so I can't really compare them fairly - but another reviewer did mention that they are nearly identical. Regardless, this mat is very well-made. I think it's excellent quality for the price, and I really like the neutral color of the mat. I hope Anja Wellbeing will introduce neck pillows with the same materials - I would definitely purchase one to concentrate on the upper back / neck area. HUGE THANKS to Anja Wellbeing for producing this stellar product :DFor those considering between this mat and other choices, I would recommend definitely this one!

It isn't sharp & won't hurt yuou
I've been using another brand of acupressure mat, irregularly. Irregularly, partly due to not forming a habit to use it, but aIso, due to the fact that I find it unpleasantly sharp on bare skin. I think the excessive sharpness is due to the thin/fine type of plastic (cheap?) & spike shape/design. I've mostly used it to sit on when clothed.I was pleasantly surprised when the Ajna mat arrived, to find that the spikes (points), are not excessively sharp. In fact, the Ajna mat feels less intrusive than my 'other' mat & I love the pretty flower design.I'm aiming to use my Ajna mat each night with bare skin, before bed (I need to turn off & relax from late night study). I only remembered every few nights last week (before falling into bed😄), but have found I've been looking for the relaxing time out, each night this week. I'm only on my mat for 10 minutes at bedtime, as I'm so tired, but it think it's been helping me go to sleep faster this week! I've definitely been enjoying more restful sleep.Previously, with my 'other' mat, I only used it before bed twice with bare skin (I've had it for maybe 6 months). It very quickly got kicked out of the bedroom & put on my office chair. I found the sharpness of the plastic irritated my skin - so far, this hasn't happened with the Ajna mat so I'm assuming it won't!😃I like that I can easily move the Ajna mat from room to room or even to the car, with ease. In comparison to my 'other' mat, which is only slightly longer, I find my Ajna mat to be more sturdy & stronger. My other mat flops around when transported or placed on a chair. The Ajna mat, with its coconut fibre filling, stays put & doesn't fall off my office chair or car seat when I move or get up. My 'other' mat has a cheap foam filling & doesn't feel firm or supportive. When you're sitting against the 'other' mat, you have to push your body right into it to keep it still (& to have the pressure of the spikes against your body). This isn't so with the Ajna mat as it's firm & doesn't move when you sit back.I've used my Ajna mat to stand on when I need to stand at my desk & it feels lovely on sore feet - I'm sure it relaxes my legs too as the blood flow increases. I'd love to buy this acupressure mat in a bolster pillow so I could use it for my neck whilst using my Ajna mat for my back & legs.I'm yet to experiment with using it on different body parts or whilst doing yoga asana's, but look forward to doing so. Given the positive experience I've had so far with my Ajna mat, I'm sure I'll be incorporating it into more daily activities soon, so I can rejuvenate & benefit from a more relaxed being + state.I highly recommend giving the Ajna mat a go! Even if you use it fully clothed, you will soon reap the benefits of less tension & stress - a far cheaper option than a weekly massage!

Relaxes the body and mind
I really love this acupressure mat. I've never used one before so I was really unsure how this would benefit me. I started using it with a thin shirt, laying on my back on the ground. Within seconds I was enjoying the sensation and felt in a meditative state, even though my 2 year old and 5 year old were swirling around me. My 5 year old was curious and tried it out, now I have to ask her permission to use it! My husband stood on it for a bit, and said it was "intense".Overall, it's beautifully designed and well made, as well as a great addition to my self care regiment. The natural materials and colors look great in my living room. When it's packed in its bag it hangs on my coat rack, looking fancy.I've attached a photo of my 5 year old enjoying the mat!

In Love with this Mat!!!!
What compelled me to purchase this mat were the reviews. I thought, it can’t be that good. I need to try it for myself to see. I have received acupuncture before for tense back and neck muscles and was curious to see if it produced the same physiological response. Within 5 minutes of laying on the mat I feel intense relaxation and calmness. My muscles are less stiff and more relaxed. I also feel sleepy after. One night, I slept for 12 hours after use! No joke! I’m not gonna lie, it hurts getting on and off the mat. The key is to get up and reposition slowly. Once you’re situated in a comfortable position, don’t move. You can play with how much pressure to put on certain parts of your body while lying on it. I’m not a skinny or tiny person. I’m “fluffy” but the mat has no issue with my weight and is very sturdy and well made. Now all I need is a matching neck pillow and/or regular pillow for my head to use with my Ajna mat. I would definitely recommend the Ajna Mat to anyone!
