I wanted a simple cheap, basic watch to go camping with. I've tried the el cheapo $10 watches at the discount stores but they are always digital watches that have a bunch of buttons for setting different modes. Inevitably one of the buttons gets pushed and places the watch in some mode that does not tell me current time when I want to know what time it is. Especially frustrating in the middle of the night.This watch solves all of those problems. It operates on a battery but does not have all the screwy time modes like stop watch or lap counter or alarms to go off at unwanted times.The other stuff that comes with it is a bonus as far as I am concerned. The fire starter really works though I wouldn't play with it too much if think you really might want to use it in an emergency. It's not that big. And the compass really works too. Though it is too small to do serious orienteering with, it can at least provide you with the 4 cardinal directions if you need them. One word of caution though, do not use the compass while wearing the watch. The metal from the fire starter striker interferes with the compass and it points at the striker instead of north when the wrist band is clasped shut. Just unsnap the wrist band and the compass works fine. The paracord can be shredded into strands to use as tinder for fire starting too.Anyway, the watch is perfect for me and the large face makes it easy to read in poor lighting conditions too. Happy customer.

The numbers and face of the watch are large and easy to see. The glow in the dark works well.The bad news is the compass doesn't work well. You definitely have to have the watch off and spread out to avoid interference from the fire starter. Even at that the compass is off by anywhere from 90 to 180 degrees. I checked it against two compasses that I know are accurate, they both lined up together. I have not seen a button compass that works well yet.The fire starter is EXCELLENT!! It shoots a flame out and starts a fire quickly. Easily one of the best I've seen.So, for the watch itself and the fire starter being so good, I gave it a 5 star rating.

I've been wearing this watch for a few days now, to include a long day of airport travel. I really dig this watch, but I honestly don't really care about the extras on it; I just wanted a paracord watch. The whistle and fire-starter seem on point, functional, and well made. The compass doesn't look like it works, but I haven't actually tried using it properly. Again, I'm in it for the watch, so the only thing that dings it down to 4 stars is that on the smallest setting, it's still pretty loose on my wrist. Maybe I have skinny wrists, but I think it's made a little big. All said, it's still very wearable and I really like the watch.

The watch is great and all of the features work fine. The only problem is the method of adjusting the watch, which is a bit flimsy. I don't like that the Velcro has to stick out when I wear it. Would like something a little more complex and maybe a slightly less bulky design. The two metal pins holding the watch straps are thin and look like they'll break easily under stress. It also arrived with a small scratch on the glass. I took a shower with the watch and it was definitely water proof. No signs of leakage or condensation in the watch. I took a 15 minute shower. Whistle works great and will definitely catch the attention of anyone nearby if their eardrums don't get blown out. The watch is also a little bit larger then wrist size 7 men's. My wrist is 7 and a half inches yet the watch still fits loosely. Not too loosely that it'll fall off however. The fire starter and scraper took me 5 minutes to figure out but I got it! Buckle kinda gets in the way while scraping. Ended up scraping off a lot of the buckle's plastic. Other than that, I managed to set a piece of paper on fire with just the magnesium flakes. Watch hands glow in the dark which is a nice feature. I expect the battery life to be a long time. Never took a look at the internals yet but will do. Very good for the money.

Bought for my Boy Scout son. Great watch with excellent "extra" features. All the boys wanted one. We did have the glass face break, but I contacted the company and they were quick to resolve my issue. I would buy again in a heartbeat!

Bought this for husband. It seems nice when we first received it, but husband said it didn't keep time very well and the cord the way it was laced was very bulky!! He re-laced it a different way and said he liked it better until it stopped keeping time.

I recently purchased this watch and used it on a Girl Scout weekend. All the bells and whistle's work and were nice to have. The face is nice and big as well. I have not used the fire starter as of yet but will try soon. The instructions that were mailed did help for the initial setup. I did find that the paracord was pretty bulky and I was unable to make it fit snugly to my wrist but otherwise I will keep it as I look forward to using again in the future.

Great watch, love it. I had bought a similar watch from a different company and it was HUGE on me with no way to adjust it. This watch is great because you can adjust it. Only improvement I'd make on the watch is have it solar powered. When S*&F, it will be difficult to find a replacement battery for the watch. If it was solar powered, you wouldn't have that problem.
