Very good entry level wood burner tool
I am starting to learn wood burning. I ordered the Chandler wood burning tool. I realized after first using it that it would be more convenient if I could have 2 tools so I wouldn't have to change tips so often. I went to Michaels and bought a Walnut Hollow tool for about $10 cheaper.I can give you a side by side comparison:The Chandler came with a good assortment of brass tips 6 in all in a nice little case and a hot knife tip as well. The Walnut Hollow came with 4, no hot knife and no little case. The Chandler is more heavy duty. It is slightly heaver but it has a nice ergonomic handle which doesn't get hot during use. The handle on the Walnut Hollow tool gets hot after an hour or so of use.The Chandler comes with a metal stand which was round and very stable. The Walnut Hollow also has a metal stand that tips if you don't put the tool in exactly right.Neither of the tools have temperature controls. The Walnut Hollow has an on/off switch on the cord. There is no way to turn off the Chandler except by unplugging it. Both seemed to work well on the wood projects. The tips were interchangeable which is nice.Between the two, I think the Chandler is sturdier, with a handle which stays cool and less likely to fall over when hot. It also has more tips with a little case to hold them. If you can afford to pay a little more money, I think the Chandler is nicer.

Great Starter Tool
I bought this product because I wanted to try my hand at wood burning, but wasn't sure if I'd like it or just end up burning myself or my house down. I'm totally hooked now, and I'm happy to say that my house and hands are burn-free! 😄 I used the tool for hours and did not wear gloves, but my fingers never got hot. It was a bit awkward to hold since the grip is kind of far from the tip. It just took some getting used to. The tips were nice. Not much to say about those. Although, now I'm curious about brass tips vs wire nibs. 🤔 All the pros seem to be using wire nibs in the videos I've been watching. Give yourself a well sanded test piece and time for practice if you're like me and have never wood burned before. I think some people give negative reviews simply because the wood wasn't smooth enough to burn without catching the grain. The temp was not easy to control because there is no way to control it. But, whatever temperature it got up to was enough to get my project done. I think temp control comes more into play when you want a lower temp for shading, which I only attempted a bit on the sunflower. I DO recommend getting a fume extractor, though, because my eyes were burning by the end, and I did cough for a bit. I also recommend researching what wood works best for pyrography and sanding the wood very well before burning. Parts of my coasters didn't burn as well as it could have because it already had a varnish on it and I didn't quite sand it all off before hand. Now that I know I enjoy it, I am currently looking into spending a little more and getting one that is a little more pen-like and has a temperature setting. All in all, I think it's a wonderful tool for the price and to test the waters with. 👍

Excellent tool with outstanding cuistomer service
I ordered this to replace a wood burner that quit. When the Chandler tool arrived it had the soldering tips included but not the brass wood burning tips. I contacted Chandler Tool via email and explained the situiation and asked how I could obtain the brass tips. The response was less than 24 hours and I was informed they would send me another complete kit, i.e. iron, soldering tips and brass wood burning tips. Within just a few short days the new tool arrived and is of excellent quality and works to perfection. If you are in need of a soldering iron for small jobs, i.e. electronic hobbies or if you need an excellent, quick heating versatile wood burning tool, I very strongly recommend the Chandler tool.

Highly Recommended!
This wood burner is great. It's very lightweight and easy to handle and bonus, the handle never get hot. It heats quickly. The tips screw in every evenly by hand, no tools necessary to get them in or out and it seems that it is not even possible to over-tighten them yet they are in there very securely. The shipping was crazy fast and I am completely satisfied with my choice. I purposely bought this one because it didn't have a temp control, I considered that something that could possibly go wrong, add weight and make the entire tool longer making it harder to use for someone with small hands. I did buy a separate rheostat to control the temp which works out perfectly. To newbies like me, I suggest reading all the instructions, including the PDF Mr. Chandler sends out when he ships his product (nice touch), invest in a little bottle of graphite powder and have patience with heating and cooling.Mr. Chandler another reason for my choice was that I read many reviews and noticed that you were the only one to answer people's reviews and questions personally. Most other sellers let other customers answer questions. It is rare to find someone who stands behind their product. Thank you.

tips will not last
Be careful with the tips on this product. All the others I've used have lasted a long time, but these seem to be a one time use as they bend when they get hot (kinda the point of a wood burner). Just be really gentle with these and apply no pressure at all. It'll take much longer to get things done this way, but it'll keep the threads and tips from getting damaged.

Amazing birthday to me
The media could not be loaded. I got this for my birthday and it's perfect. I was honestly freaked out by the smell of the tips warming up for the first time but it just seems to burn off a protective outer layer of the tips. After watching all the videos on there YouTube about all safety and proper techniques and uses I understood a lot. It is easy to bend the tips but your only just to stamp lightly to the wood. But the great thing is when the wood burner is still hot your able to gently bend the tips back. It also only takes about 5 minutes to heat up properly and during my projects the handle is still durable and not too hot. I added a video of my second project (bee video) and my first project (Mandela photo with paint). I can't wait to do more projects in the near future.
