Elementary: The Complete Series

Great actors, great writing. Just all around excellent series!!!

LOVE it

In characters, plots, and outcomes, we have not seen a better detective series. There is not a single lazy standard form plot among the generous 24 episode seasons. (Only the final season has less than six discs.) This is an amazing array of keen observations and cleaver outcomes. We do not watch the interview special sections or deleted scenes. We have entirely appreciated the generous production value of various writers and directors. Actors are perfect for their intended. Simply better than any standard series out there.

The stars are only for the fact that I love this show very much. It's a fantastic adaptation of Holmes and Sherlock and Joan's interaction is magnificent, not to mention one of those few series where the lead man and lead woman stay friends.I even like the outer box for the complete series set. It's nice. But I hate everything else. It's the packaging that's the problem. Seasons 1-3 is in its own large box, and 4-7 are in their own large box. But the packaging is horrible for holding discs.I have ordered this set THREE times, twice through Amazon, once through Ebay, all new sets. Every single time, I found discs loose in the boxes. I've had loose discs in boxes before, and most times, I've gotten lucky because the discs were still functional.That's not the case for this Elementary set. All three times, at least one of the discs scratched to the point that one of the episodes failed to play at all. Three times in a row, and I'm tired of trying.I know it'll be more expensive, but if you really want to get a physical copy of Elementary, I think you're better off buying each season separately. That's what I'm trying now.

Probably one of the best detective series ever written for TV, I enjoyed it when it was aired, and now years later I've been enjoying the re-runs. The main characters are awesomely played, and this is probably some of the best acting by Lucy Liu in anything she has done so far. And, Jonny Lee Miller made a perfect modern day Holmes. Aidan Quinn and John Noble also did great jobs at playing their characters. There are two reasons I can't give 5 stars to this series of DVD's... The package, and the way the DVD's are packed in like so much worthless junk that weren't valuable enough to be stored properly. Removing them for play was a total pain in the ass. They are now stored in their own storage container where they are easily removed for playback. The other issue is the actual playing of the DVD's. Most of the time I can start the first episode and they just play one after the other and I don't have to bother doing anything but enjoying what I'm watching, but with these DVD's, I have to start each and every episode after the previous one ends. That is a very irritating way to put a series, any series, together on DVD's. I didn't post a picture as there are several examples of what I'm posting already available. Enjoy the series, it's great! I'm adding this as when I got to season 6 they had a selection to "Play All" ... a bit late, and I expected season 7 to have a "Play All" also, no such luck. Crazy stuff.

The disc set is good. The shipping, outer shipping packaging were done well. The product package was intact and in good condition. The set comes in two cases covering the whole series. I have not opened the second case yet, but the first case had some of the pips that hold the discs in place were broken and allowed the discs to float free inside the case. So far, it does not appear to have scratched or damaged the discs. clarity of the shows is good, and there is bonus material/footage included with the series.I don't believe the vendor had any cause for the damaged pips, as it could have been accidental from when the cases were assembled by the manufacturer. All in all, I would probably purchase from this vendor again.

Looking forward to rewatching after catching the show in its original run on CBS. My favourite Sherlock Holmes adaption! I saw some other reviews about the discs being defective, especially season six, but mine seem fine. Packaging is similar to when I bought THE SOPRANOS on Blu-ray and SUCCESSION on DVD, where they stack two or three discs on top of one another, so I’ll pick up slim jewel cases and put the discs in there to avoid scratching. (I wish Amazon would have shipped in a cardboard box with air bags instead of a plastic bag — the DVD box got a little banged up.)

Outstanding series with great stories and acting...however, we bought this and the description said new. However, as mentioned by several other reviewers who bought around the same time, some of the disks in the 2 part of the series, 5-7 had finger prints on them, not ours, and scratches and Season 5 had episodes that froze on first disk and fourth disk played first episode perfectly and then skipped on every other one ultimately freezing and kept our dvd player from opening so we could remove the disk which we have never had happen after all the hundreds of disks we have played on it. Luckily we ultimately were able to get it open and out. So, first four seasons of disks were find but worried about the rest of the disks. Also, truly horrific packaging where trying to get them out is horrible...what is with companies that sell their expensive series like that? Addendum: the company that sent the disks was very helpful and replaced the damaged disks.

It plays very well. Dolby 5.1 and the series is in order. The TV stations paly the series in any order and that doesn't make any sense to the story.

It took me at least 3 episodes to get into it but once I did I really enjoyed it. At first 'Holmes' drove me up the wall so irritating was he but I persevered and am glad I did, He calmed down and I ended up loving his character and although I knew in my heart there was nowhere else for the series to go, I was sad to see it end. Give it a few years and I'll probably watch all over again. Recommended to all.

Great to have the whole season all together but the extra contents are a great bonus if you're a series fan like myself.
