IWISS iCrimp PEX-1210C PEX Crimp Ring Removal Tool for 1/2-Inch,3/4-Inch,1-Inch F1807 Copper Crimp Rings

The IWISS® PEX-1210C PEX Crimp Ring Remove Tool does its job very well -- when used correctly. An excellet tool at a good price from a prompt and responsible provider. Basically there are two things to understand about this tool or other brands of copper-crimp remover. First, calibrate the tool -- something that should have been explained in an accompanying instruction sheet. There are two adjusters, the one on the side and the screw mechanism that strikes it. The shiny sticker shows the positions for the side adjuster (for one-half inch PEX, turn it so the "dash" is aligned with the notch). Most important, however, is the extending screw adjuster. To get the best setting, experiment with an installed ring until the adjustment is right: this means until squeezing the handles produces an audible click and cuts the ring without slicing through the PEX tube. Ideally, the tube will have only a slight cut or an indentation. As someone has explained, the ring comes off easily when you cut the ring and then apply limited pressure on the opposite side. This will open the ring so it comes off easily. If the ring is completely cut on the opposite side, one half will likely pop off and leave the other half stuck to the tube (not hard to detach, but wastes a bit of time). The second basic problem: dislodging the tube from the fitting after removing the ring. PEX tends to stiffen and set around the fitting after crimped. If the ring is cut properly, the tube itself must be cut off very close to the copper fitting, which leaves very little tube surface to grip with pliers (even if you manage to get a hold, the tube usually will not give if the ring was crimped correctly). I usually dislodge the tube by softening it a bit with a heat gun and pulling on it with pliers -- avoid clamping the pliers too tightly (just enough to pull the softened tube without damaging the copper fitting). Works great. Squeeze it on one side until you noticably feel and hear it cut through the ring. Flip it around and give it a light squeeze again and the ring separates apart where you cut it. My biggest problem was getting the pex off the fitting after. I had to use a utility knife to cut through the pex so I could get it off. This tool got the ring off exceptionally well however. Was easy to use, almost one handed capable for me. There's a dial you can turn to adjust the size you'll be cutting. Out of the box mine was set for 1/2" and it fit the pipe perfectly. Feels very well made! Same price as the Sharkbite one but better reviews!

No instructions in the box so minus a star. Works well so far. Did a handful of fittings that I’d been saving. Cut the ring two times, comes off easy. For the tubing stub remaining on the fitting, cut it A LOT of times (think 10-20) and it will loosen and slide off.

These work way better than the Snakebite ones we used in our plumbing business. I wish I had known about these when I was still doing plumbing for a living, easy to use, easy to adjust, built right, perfect size, and works quickly. You can't beat'em, and a great price too.

I had to watch a youtube video to figure out how this thing works lol. Once I got it figured out it worked very well for me. You have to have pretty good hand strength to operate it but other than that it did what it was supposed to do. I can't say anything bad about it.

great little ring splicer for getting those copper crimp rings off incase you want to save your fittings when you make a mistake. this was a much better solution than me using a Dremel to careful grind away at the rings before splitting them off.

I've been doing my own plumbing in my RV conversion and since it's my first time trying to remember all the tees and fittings I wanted to install, I did make mistakes. Trying to grind off the old Pex rings got old really fast and having this tool made short work of removing them. A real time saver!
