Just what I needed, great shoe!
First I'll say I am not an avid runner, but am athletic and like to always be able to run if I need/want to. These shoes are perfect for my daily work where black shoes are needed. They do have a silver pin stripe around the usual ASICS design outline, but it really doesn't stand out a ton and can be fixed with a sharpie if needed in the future. I switched to ASICS from Nike a few years back, and haven't had a bad pair yet. This pair actually has more padding than my ASICS Gel series I wear usually when not at work, which I also love. I have a wider foot but don't feel comfortable in wide size shoes. The GT-1000 is a good balance of foot hugger with plenty of toe room to wiggle them around in, which my feet love. I haven't had to run in them yet, so I can't really say how they would do as a daily running shoe. For the reviews that say theirs came with specs of silver on the inner side sole area - this is an ASICS design thing. They probably could have done without it on this shoe being basically all black, but it's on every shoe I've ever seen from them. It's not a defect, and you probably aren't going to get a pair without those flakes. If they bug ya, sharpies are just the ticket. If it needs to be 100% all black for work purposes with no room for a little silver here and there, these probably aren't the shoes you should get unless you don't mind using the sharpie quite a bit. I doubt most employers where these could be worn would be that picky (or ever take time to inspect and stare at your shoes), which is why I personally picked these for my work shoes.

Great running & gym shoes
I originally bought these shoes from another site about 5 months ago, and immediately wore them on a vacation where I did a ton of walking in both cities and mountains. These shoes were comfortable and sturdy throughout the trip. I have wide feet so I ordered the 2E and I'm glad I did. I liked these shoes so much that when the went on sale on Amazon I bought another pair, even though the old pair are holding up fine. It's exceedingly difficult to find a pair of good running shoes that aren't a multitude of stupid flashy colors, but also aren't those black leatherish tennis shoes that look like old man shoes. So, these black fabric shoes that only have a slight pattern on the side that isn't ugly is a great find for me.I only experienced one problem, which is the reason for a dropped star: on the left shoe only, the material that surrounds the toe area flexed when I walked in such a way that it left a permanent inward crease right next to my big toe, which rubs my toe uncomfortably. I get around this by wearing socks with a thicker toe area, but it is an annoyance. This also happened with the new pair, though not as severely, and for some reason only on the left foot. Maybe I have a funny step with my left foot. Still great shoes, but I'm trying to figure out a good way to fix this without ruining the shoe's appearance.

Comfortable shoes, nice fit (order one size bigger)
I really like these shoes. I have enough sneakers, but these were on a daily special and my wife wanted to buy "twinner" shoes, she got the female ones and ordered these for me.I usually wear a size 12 in most casual and dress shoes, but in most athletic shoes I end up with a 13, which is what we did here and they fit as expected, so order a bit larger. I have a narrow foot and usually buy a B or C width in dress shoes (and I have a pair of Brooks running shoes 12 1/2 N, that I love), but these fit nicely. They might be too narrow from some slightly wider than "medium" feet. Also, I was a bit surprised that I didn't have a ton of extra shoelace after tying them up. Maybe Asics should add 6 more inches on the laces...The shoes have decent arch support and a nice heel cushion. They are comfortable for all-day walking or jogging.I like 'em.

Good running shoe for intermediate runner!
I bought these asics after searching for a pair to run with. The price on amazon was unbeatable and I was a little skeptical why the price was so low! After pulling the trigger and receiving them, I was happy with the way they fit and looked. On my first run I was not very satisfied with the shoe as they felt stiff. The next few times I went running with them they were a lot more comfortable and I fell in love right away with them. I switched to these shoes after using a pair of Nike running shoes and those were bothering my feet a lot. I use an app to keep track of how much I run, and since purchasing these shoes in the Fall of 2013, I have run approximately 400 miles on them now that it is Summer 2014 and the shoes still hold up great and I never have feet problems. I would definitely recommend these for any intermediate runner.

Solid Shoe at a Solid Price
Love the stand out color!!Although I'm not overly fast, it makes me look and feel fast and is the perfect shoe for the average height, weight, and pronation runner. It isn't for a supinated runner and will not be for someone who wants to do over 60-70 miles per week running- they will wear out rather quickly in terms of the cushioning, but the sole will remain strong due to the the AHAR rubber compound the Asics has used.I bought a half-size up from my 2070's that I was used to, and it was a really good move since the GT line seems to be slowly shrinking over the course of the last few models.Overall, as I said a solid performer and now at an even better price as the the GT-1000-2 has come out...so, get 'em while they're still available!
