Blast off!
These are great canisters, very sturdy and the caps fits nice and tight. We used them to do the rocket blast experiment with water and alka-seltzer and they were perfect. Even after all the times we used and re-used them, they worked every time and now that we are finished with that, they will certainly come in handy for using for something else. I would definitely buy these again.

Worked perfectly for film canister rockets. They were really awesome. Keep in mind the amount of water you add impacts the performance too. We had one very excited kid who insisted theirs would go the highest because they were going to use the most water. Their rocket popped a foot or two off the ground. With a little experimenting they realized less water got better results! Yay for the scientific method!

Worked as expected!
They were what I expected. I used them for a science project with my step-kids. These make excellent canisters for alka-seltzer rockets!

Great for science fair project.
Film canisters were great for science fair rocketry--HOWEVER, the protocol for the experiment found on-line needs to be tweaked. We found:(a) the height reached by the "rocket" varied according to the canister. We ended up sticking to one canister.(b) the suggestion of using 1 tsp. baking soda for the max baking soda didn't work, because when you put the lid (with the mound of wet baking soda sticking to it) on the canister (with the recommended 5 tsp. of vinegar), the baking soda reached to the vinegar before you could get the cap on and have a "rocketry event".(c) the lower the amount of vinegar, the higher the rocket--*MUCH* higher than the written protocol led you to expect and MUCH higher than the tape height markings were set (ours went up to 30 feet in the air!)Can't say the experiment wasn't fun--it was a total hoot!! I believe modification of the experimental conditions would give a better result.

Nice Buy
I bought these for a classroom experiment. They work well but the caps tend to get cracks in them. The experiment is putting a little bit of water and 1/3 of an Alka-Seltzer tab in it and snapping the lid closed. It makes quite a pop. The lid can't take the pressure too many times though.

Buy these for Alka-Seltzer rockets that fly high!!!
THESE ARE THE ONES YOU WANT! After buying a cheaper version of film canisters on Amazon and learning the the hard way that a couple bucks savings is NOT worth it, I bought these and had EXCELLENT results with our Alka-Seltzer rockets! 1/3 filled with water and 1/2 a crushed Alka-Seltzer tab dropped in will give you time to seal it and flip it, and then time to back up and watch it fly high (20-25 feet!) Don't buy the cheap ones! Buy these!!!!
