I typically use a blade for a week, using it about 5 (4-6) times in that period. I could probably use it more than that before it started to be come overly dull though.  You will be able to tell when your blade is beginning to dull when you feel the razor "pulling" or "tugging" a bit more than it did at first when you use it because it is not cutting as cleanly. You may also notice nicks or "weeping" spots where the blade isn't cutting cleanly. Again I use them for about week and toss them. This sample pack will let you find a brand you like and then you can buy a 100 blade pack of that brand from $15 to $30 depending in the brand. I personally really like the blue bird brand and spent about $20 on 100 blades.
