Good product just a
Very good consistency . It seems to be a little sweet, however a little salt can be added to make it taste more like sour cream. Good stuff ,

I have used several times
This is great to mix in with potatoes and butter and a little cream. Mash the potatoes well first. I keep forgetting I have it. I have also made whipping cream with it.

Taste and texture not what I expected--worse
Lots of rave reviews. One over the top critical review. I figure there is always one person who hates a product for some odd reason. I should have paid more attention to that one bad review.I mixed it up per the instructions, in a glass dish, put it in fridge to meld, as it was a bit runny. An hour later I tasted it. It had firmed up to a good sour cream thickness. However the taste is awful, to me anyway. First, the texture is very grainy, gritty almost. Second it is salty, much saltier than fresh sour cream. Third, it tasted both extremely sour and bitter, at the same time. I tried some at room temperature and the taste and texture did not improve. The next day, the sample in the fridge still failed: the taste and texture were still gritty, salty, sour and bitter. (In my experience sour cream is not "sour" like white vinegar sour. And it is certainly not bitter. This was going to be a basis for salad dressing like my Polish grandma used to make, and baking Eastern European pastries, the basis of which is always sour cream. I had been making Greek style yogurt and adding butter, for my pastry recipes, as this came closest to actual sour cream in taste and texture. I thought this product was going to make life easier--I live in Africa where esoteric ingredients like sour cream are not available). So this time I totally agree with the one outlier bad review.

When I don't have that little dollop of Daisy on hand, I have Hoosier Hill Farms ...
When I don’t have a little dollop of Daisy on hand, I have the Hoosier Hill Farm’s Sour Cream Powder. It’s a shelf-stable product that has come in handy more than once. Sometimes I’ll need a bit of sour cream for a recipe and don’t need a whole container, while other times I want to have some on the side with my salsa. No matter, because I don’t have to get in my vehicle and head to the store.I’m a prepper, not in the sense that I’m waiting for the end of the world, but I do like to have things on hand. I prepare for winter, minimizing my trips out, save when I need fresh produce. I’ve purchased a couple of Hoosier Hill Farm’s products and have been very satisfied. This sour cream powder is very quick and easy to prepare. According to the label, you “mix 3 parts water to 5 parts sour cream powder.”Naturally, it’s not quite as tasty as fresh is, but very, very good. After mixing, I simply chill it until I’m ready to use it. Like any powder, it can be a bit clumpy when working with it, but it smooths out nicely. It comes in a plastic container, but if you want, it can be transferred to a large Mason jar. The price is equitable as it’s so good and delivered right to my door.
