It actually worked!! I'm not surprised by the performance of this product, I'm surprised that it was actually pretty easy to do myself. I had never done this kind of repair before.The two recliners in our couch had been broken for years, and I had pretty much given up on them. Somehow I came across the idea, "there has to be a replacement part for this out there." And thanks to Amazon, there was.I investigated what was broken, and it seemed the little ball-ending-thingy (technical term) had broken off the cable. The release handle looked to be fine, so I only ordered the replacement cable. It's exactly the part I needed.The only thing that didn't quite work "out of the box" for me was the size of the "ball-ending-thingy". The existing handle I had on my couch had a smaller hole than the size of the one on this cable. Luckily I was able to use a 1/4" drill bit and drill out the hole in the handle to be *slightly* bigger and make it fit. Everything else fit into place exactly as you'd expect.So.. if you're reading this, apparently there are different sized ball endings, maybe you should check to see which one you need.Super impressed how easy this was. I would buy again.

This set of cables appeared to be of decent quality and correct length. The barrel end was oversized for the release handle in the recliner. It was necessary to drill the plastic release handle to fit the new cable. The barrel end also had casting flash and I filed it smooth before installation so that the barrel would rotate smoothly in the release lever's travel. The cable appears to be a frequent replacement item and both original cables had broken at the barrel end, likely due to a tight fit in the release handle. These cables may fit correctly in some models without modification.The final result was quite satisfactory.

This is only a near 35" exposed cable wire length. Made mistake of ordering this. Looks as tho the more universal length is 37" exposed wire cable length. If too short, you will NOT be able to get barrel end into the recliner lever. The lever itself will pull the cable wire roughly another (full) 2 inches to recline. I didn't bother returning first one I bought, being a kinda crimped the clip getting it back out. This is just a heads up to anyone looking. Probably best to fully remove the entire cable device first, then pull out the exposed wire and then measure wire length to be absolutely sure. One seller here does offer multiple length choices in a dropdown menu. Otherwise these cables are a lifesaver for any do it yourselfer, and at a good price.UPDATE: The S/Z hook connector DOES count as part of the overall wire length, not just the wire itself. The seller here who has the dropdown menu has a 38" wire, with cable adjustment to increase the exposed wire length from clamp to hook, probably your best bet for a universal reclining lever wire.

These cables are made in China, so count on them breaking and replacing them every year. Also, the cables were poorly wound and shoved into packages that were too small, so the cables were bent and the cable shield was damaged.

This company provided good product measurements so I could compare it to my old cable. That was very helpful. This cable is quality made, fit my Broyhill sofa recliner mechanism and handle perfectly.
