This review is for the UTK neckband heating pad. I already own the UTK small heating pad and this item was offered to me free of charge as a promotion. I have chronic neck pain and cranioervical instability, along with dystonia due to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. So I was very excited to receive this offer. I was surprised by the small size and lightweight of the item when I received it. The UTK small heating pad that I use for my back is heavy because of the jade and tourmaline stones. The neck heating pad has eight stones that are the same size as the other UTK heating pad. It is not heavy at all, which I was concerned about because having weight on my neck or head makes my condition worse. It comes with a small storage pouch, which is perfect because I travel sometimes for surgeries and having a convenient small item like this is perfect! The UTK neckband heating pad can be used on more body parts than just the neck: my husband had elbow surgery and it wraps perfectly around his elbow. I also have chronic hip pain and it is nice to wrap around my upper thigh to warm that area. I have Achilles tendinitis and item wraps and see around the back of my ankle securely and comfortably.This item could be improved significantly by offering a portable rechargeable battery pack to power it. Being plugged in is not ideal because I would like to be able to use this on my neck or other body parts on the go.Please be careful to keep fabric of some sort between your skin and the stones it does get quite hot. I usually set the heat to high while warming up, then lower it to medium for long-term use. It takes some time to warm up but boy, when it gets there it is such amazing, deep, heat and warmth and so relaxing.Another significant improvement would be a removable, washable cover. I have a thin neck and I do not care for the edges on the wraparound straps – they are uncomfortable and cut into my skin. I would like to see a different material used. Actually, the fleece material of the storage pouch would make an excellent cover, and I would love to see this item with a separate removable cover made from that material, that would cover the heated area and the straps as well. It isn’t always convenient for me to pull up my hood or grab a scarf. This is a wonderful item I believe it is worth the list price, however again I did have initial concerns that the timer function was unreliable, but it seems to have been user error. UTK - please provide a portable rechargeable battery pack and I will be extraordinarily happy! Of note I have purchased an infrared heating pad from another company and was very very displeased. As far as I am concerned, UTK is the industry leader and I would recommend it based on Price, design, and performance. Bravo for making great products. They help with my extraordinarily painful condition and I am very grateful that I upgraded from a standard heating pad because this is far and away a much better choice for deep heat that really penetrates into the muscles joints and tendons. Deep soothing heat in a convenient lightweight size and shape - I just wish I didn't have to stay plugged in!

UTK does it again! Absolutely perfect Little wrap. I strained my wrist ligament, and carting around a full size inferred stone heating pad was difficult and not especially effective. I went hunting for inferred small heating pad and found this. Wrist already improving. Nothing like targeted inferred for strains! This is so portable and effective! Has timer and 3 heat levels (high is best for inferred) and a small neat bag for transporting. I would use this for neck or knee as well. 100% recommend.

When I ordered this neck infrared heating pad, I did not realize that it had so many returns. As others have said, it does not lay properly on the neck. I tried turning it upside down as one review said. It didn't work for me. The strap that closes around the neck is extremely uncomfortable, as others have also noted. Although it was supposed to be returnable, in my case, it wasn't. I've tried tying the strap around my chin, but that is hard to do. A complete waste of money.

Okay, this worked like a charm as far as heat, comfort, etc. The problem for me was that it really is just for the neck & was too narrow to address the little divot between my neck and shoulders, which is where I really need the heat. Decided to return it & depend upon an ice bag filled with hot water. More awkward for doing anything while wearing but a good excuse to lie down & read or pet the cat while applying therapeutic heat. I do want to point out that I have one of UTK's jade stone larger heating pads that I use regularly for my back & I love it! Good quality just not a perfect fit for this need.

I have a high quality infrared heating pad, not found here, sold in Canada. The problem with it is it is a large, stiff pad. I needed one I could wrap around my ankle, so I purchased this one. I was told infrared wouldn't/couldn't blister skin. I used the highest setting, like I do with my other infrared pad. I could barely feel the warmth but in one spot. Turns out that spot blistered me.The cords are small, like for computer electronics, an not for an appliance or heating pad. The control button turns off too easily. Just natural moving around, while sitting, leaning forward to grab a drink, for example, so the controller drags across one's cloths, can make it turn off. The control label words are small and thus hard to read.Pad is not removable to be washable.It is a sleeper energy drainer so that when it's disconnected from the pad, (it has three parts. Why?) but not unplugged from the electrical socket, it still shines a light.Do not use on highest setting for a disabled person. Do monitor it.Forty dollars that I wish I had spent else where.

I got the one with the plush fabric on the inside and I find it comfortable to wear. I wish the velcro straps were as comfortable but it's not bad at all. The heat gets very hot so I think anyone would be happy with the three levels. It heats up quickly and the keeps the warmth. Clearly way better quality for the money and I'm very happy with my purchase. The shape fits perfectly to where I need it and I love that the controller and cord are NOT bulky. I don't think anyone who is sight challenged or arthritic(I do) would have problems operating it despite it's small size because there are only two buttons (one for time, one for heat level)with lights that show green, orange or red for the level of heat/time you've selected, green is lowest, orange medium, red highest. Love that the cord is long and it comes with a fabric bag to store all in. I also like that you can just disconnect to cord instead of removing it if you need to go do something. I'm so happy I decided to try this brand! I would highly recommend and would purchase again in the future. Try it!

This heating pad only worked for 5 months. And the velcro was weak also. When it worked, I liked it.
