I have a large 25 qt. stainless steel stock pot that I use for large batches of homemade pasta sauce and other large quantity recipes. Until now, I have been dealing with a smaller spoon and trying not to burn my fingers as I hold the spoon from the very end and still get to the bottom of the pot for stirring. I searched for a longer spoon and found this one. It's perfect to get to the bottom of my 12" stock pot without burning my fingers, and it won't scratch my pot.Since this spoon is made of a raw, unfinished wood, I suggest that it is treated occasionally with a protective wood oil or mineral oil. This will help to protect the wood from absorbing, and being stained, by the food that is being stirred and make it easier to clean. In addition, raw, unprotected wood utensils cleaned with soap will will absorb the soap. Using an oil to protect them will help to prevent this problem.I hope this review was helpful for you.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions and prep the spoon before use. We put four layers of food-grade mineral oil on the spoon letting it completely dry between applications.I needed a long spoon for my quarterly tomato sauce project. The pot holds 3 gallons of liquid and the spoon reaches to the bottom of the pot to pull up the chopped and pureed tomatoes that sink to the bottom. The spoon was heavy enough to withstand the density of the tomato product, and round enough to get into the curve of the pot. After use, I washed the spoon and hung it to dry.The spoon worked beautifully. I highly recommend it.
