Doing their job as acoustic dampening panels - definitely NOT soundproofing panels though.
The product description is not accurate. These are not sound-proofing panels. They are acoustic dampening panels. So, for the misleading product description I’m deducting 1 star. That said… I bought these for their intended, not misrepresented, purpose. And they are doing their job. I have converted a bedroom into a project recording studio used mostly for tracking drums. While I did have a secondary goal of trying to reduce the amount of sound that escaped my room so as to not bother the neighbors, the main goal was to dampen some of the overtones I was getting in the room, create fewer places for the sound of the drums to bounce around.I installed these in the 3 windows of the room – starting by cutting 3/8” plywood to tightly fit into the window opening, then using spray glue to attach the panels to the plywood. I aligned them so they were just barely sticking over the edges of the plywood, allowing something of a ‘seal’ up against the window frame. For the record, iIt is the wood, far more than these panels, blocking the sound inside the room from getting through the windows to the outside. But inside the room they have definitely helped tame some of the echo and reverb, without creating a totally dead room. As I work on the room I may add a few more of these in a couple other spots like directly behind the kit, and possible on the opposite wall to the kit around the monitor. But initial testing is very encouraging. If you buy these for what they are, I think you’ll find them useful.

These panels are awesome. Reduced the sound at the source by 15 decibels and reduced the overall sound in the room from 68 to 41. All packages arrived in sets of 12. I used t-pins for mounting as someone on one of the threads I was reading had suggested. We have textured walls, so only 2 t-pins per panel were needed to hold them to the walls. The ceiling required 4 for each panel. In parts of the room you can really hear a huge difference.A friend gave me an 84in server cabinet that has 65 decibel fan in the top. The way my office is situated I could not sit in a separate room. It was unbearable for weeks. Then I ordered these panels and they arrived quickly (over 3 couple of days due to the postal service). As I put up the panels you could hear and feel the difference in the room. These rooms have no popcorn or acoustic ceiling tiles, so the echo was immense. I can actually hear people on the phone again without having to step out of the room. Also I can no longer hear the echoes, laughter, phone calls, music, or speech coming down the hallway from my coworkers. Excellent quality. They only have odor if you smell them directly, which was another concern I had after a bad experience with Chinese foam that smelled like gasoline.

Affordable way to help treat a rehearsal space
We have a drum shield around our drummers kit but the cymbals still were really loud. I bought these to try them out. We'll see how they do.I tried following the advice of one person who used spray adhesive to attach them to poster board to give them some sturdiness when hanging but I realized how long this would take with 48 panels. I didn't need it to look super professional so what I did was take a thumbtack (or two in some cases) and stick it through the foam into the ceiling. Worked fairly well.I'll update after our first band rehearsal to see the difference.

Great stuff for the price
We used this to treat our band's practice space. The room is already soundproofed so all we need was some dampening, diffusion, and so forth. These things work really well, especially considering the price compared to pricier products. Is it perfect? No, but it really made a huge difference in our sound, our ears are so grateful. Always use at least the 2" tiles to treat a room for sound, the 1" is basically useless. We used foam adhesive to secure this to flooring paper which is exactly 3' wide. That way, we could make panels of any 3'xWhatever size. We then used double-sided tape and tacks to secure the paper to the walls and ceiling. No fuss!

Actually works to cut down reflection
A bedroom with bare walls is very reflective with sound. If you clap your hands hard, you might even hear a metallic ringing sound. This was the case in my room that i was using to record drums. I bought packs of these, and with the advice of another review i glued them to poster-board, ( 6 squares per poster board ) and i was able to stick the poster board to the wall with just ONE thumb tack. Super easy to move around if i want. Now with this on my walls, the ringing sound is gone in the areas i use to record. I'm surprised how cheap it was to treat my room. With poster board, glue, thumb tacks and this foam, i think my total project budget was 120 bucks.

and I am completely satisfied. The best deal in foam panels for your ...
I have a studio that I had constructed in my home with the "Band" room being 12'X12', & the "Control" room being 7'X12'. I applied these foam panels with "Elmers Wood Glue" onto "RamBoard" floor paper you can get at Lowes shopping center, The roll is 36"X50', and is similar to cardboard but more pliable and just as strong. So three of these foam panels fit perfectly across the Ramboard, and as many length wise as you wish. I did mine with 3 foam panels across and 4 foam panels long (3'X4'). You can then use "T" pens or staples to apply them to the wall & cieling. The Foam Panels deaden the echo & reverb excellently, and I am completely satisfied. The best deal in foam panels for your money!

Good stuff - friendly warning to obsessives, these are book-ended pieces
These work well for sound dampening a vocal recording booth in a converted closet. They are cut on an alternating bias, so if you are OCD and want all rows to line up, consider purchasing well more than you’ll need. I had several pieces left over that wouldn’t fit my pattern—but it’s soo pretty!

Great absorption for the price
Great product! It is a great value for the price compared to higher quality sound absorption panels. They are dense enough to absorb enough sound to be useful. I have tried some other panels from Amazon but so far these are the best bang for your buck if you are on a tight budget.Side note, these are not for sound proofing. These are used to increase the quality of the sound in a room.
