THE BEST!
The best slow cooker I've ever had, and I've had many different brands and features.. . This is a simple, manual machine that cooks perfectly every.single.time. I bought this slow cooker one year ago and had to come back to review it as its just been so great! My favorite thing about it is that it keeps food warm at the PERFECT temperature ALL DAY where my other crock pots got way too hot on the warm setting or didn't keep food at a safe temperature on warm. It heats up to high setting fast too. This thing has been used AT LEAST 50 times over this past year and I cannot complain about one thing. Honestly it's just been the best slow cooker, hasnt had a simgle problem and its a gorgeous color as well. If you're looking for a slow cooker without the bells and whistles that cooks perfectly, THIS is the one!

No Frills; Looks Great; Consumer Reports Choice!
A crock pot. Load it up, plug it in, select your setting, and get out of the way. It'll do it's thing, and later you'll be happy. Idiot proof, non-rocket-science. You want bells and whistles? Look elsewhere. You want an attractive, easy to clean crock pot with A knob (as in uno, un, one)? Here you go. Black and Decker?!? Yes, Black + Decker, the dudes who make cordless screwdrivers and drills. If you think they don't know what they're doing sticking their drill bit into the realm of kitchen appliances, think again. Consumer Reports rates this exact model (SC 2007D) tops for "manual slow cookers." Other reasons to buy this one? One, it's inexpensive. Two, B+D actually took a chance and thought about how this piece could stand out from the rest of the pack, and stand out on your counter: great color! Three, did I mention it has A KNOB and gets the job done? One caveat -- it's light, which is good for older folks, wimps, and those not looking for a bicep-bulging workout when setting it up or cleaning it afterwards; however, it's light because it's not built like a tank. I haven't had it long enough to dis the company by saying it's cheap, flimsy, or shoddy. But I can tell it needs to be treated with a little TLC to last.

This is HUUUGE
30+ years ago I was gifted a small slow cooker. Initially I wasn't quite sold on the idea as the whole slow cooking concept was foreign to me. After a while I realized that the gadget actually has potential. Since my original machine decided to fall apart a month ago, I figured it was time to get a new one. Amazon Warehouse to the rescue! This B&D slow cooker caught my eye with its turquoise color and retro-look stripe design. I have no idea of the size of my original cooker but it was small and something a tad larger would be fine. I didn't really visualize how large 7 quarts would be so when my purchase arrived, I was floored. My old one must have been about 2 quarts. Anyway, there is plenty of room for just about anything you would desire to prepare. The buttons are easy: OFF, low, high and warm. I didn't need any timers or other fancy features. The electric cord is rather short; another 10 inches in length would be nice but I can manage. These newer slow cookers are nice in that the inner ceramic bowl comes off and makes cleanup easy (my old one didn't have that so one had to wash it carefully so as not to get water in wrong places). However, I can tell you that a 7-quart bowl weighs quite a bit so be careful when handling it. The weight is probably the only minus I can think of. I will probably get some liners for this slow cooker so that I could prepare two separate dishes at the same time.

Simple operation, Solid heavy crock, heats fast and keeps warm without burning.
Had the name brand version that never worked right so looked for a heavy crock one with simple control, not digital. This one works great, it heats fast and evenly. Usually will begin to rapid simmer in approximately an hour when 3/4 full. Once it does, I turn to low which maintains a nice low simmer nicely. My pictures show the start and finish of beef stew which was done in 3 hours. A few tech specs; This review is written after over 2 dozen meals of broth, bean and cream soups, pot roast, pork shoulder and stews. The control knob is nice size and shape that feels solid, I am not a fan of the smaller wing shape/size knobs so very happy with this one. Heats to boil usually within an hour, a very cold, almost still frozen 7 pound pork shoulder took 2 hours to get to a simmering point. A full crock of chicken soup took 1-1/2 hours to simmer. My name brand crock pot always took 4-5 hours to finally get to these points. When turned off and left to sit as you would for transporting to a gathering elsewhere, (1-1/4 hour trip in a warm car and left unplugged at destination), it took 3 hours to drop temperature to 143 degrees, just above recommended 140 degree safe temperature for food. When using the warm setting, it keeps it above 160 degrees or so depending on how often the lid is opened and how long it is off but still hot and safe. Yes, the crock is heavy but I feel it is way better to maintain even heat. The crock cleans easily. The lid hanging on handle is a nice feature that keeps it out of the way while adding ingredients or when serving. The design was not important for me but everyone that sees it, really likes it, two family members purchased the same teal wave pattern after seeing it. I see others that received a damaged in the box delivery, I too received the first one damaged due to, in my opinion, a protection oversight in packaging but the second one was undamaged and in perfect condition. I would highly recommend this to anyone! Black and Decker should make other sizes of this model for those of us who don't desire fancy controls and for those who can use smaller models. Great product B&D!

Best crock pot 0n the market.
Best crock pot I've ever owned. A little difficult/heavy for my wife 2 washout. So I wash it. The right size 2 make great food in. Like Root Beer flavored pulled pork, pot roasts & corned beef.

nice Sturdy Product. Tried it out fo3 large meals and a huge receipe of "homemade" italian Spaghetti. Wonderful.
I have only given it a 4 star because I haven't used it yet, BUT I have to say that this seems to be, so far, the absolute BEST made slo-cooker that I have seen and used in the past. it seems to be extremely well made, and sturdy. Every part of it, on the outside, looks super. even the knob for the heating selections is sturdy and you feel a strong, well made part. Even though this is made in many parts of the World: Republic of China, Argentina AND Mexico, it looks like they all worked together to make a geat product. I'll let everyone know how it can't cooks after I use it. But I am really impressed with it sooo far.

Works well
I’ve been using this for a few years now and it’s an excellent crockpot without all the fancy buttons. I was looking for just a crockpot, no fancy electronic buttons. It cooks well and cleans up easy. I would definitely buy this again!

Very Pleased So Far!
as many reviews stated, the temps are a little higher than what you'd expect from most slow cookers. For its first use, to test it out, I cooked an extra large whole chicken on low the whole time and measured the temp every hour or so. It sat right around 210-215, just at the edge of boiling point. But for us, that's perfect, since we've always slow-cooked in the roaster oven or the outdoor smoker at 220-225. The chicken came out perfect and we decided we like this B&D cooker a lot and will keep it. We'll use the higher temp for starting off a roast for a couple of hours then dialing it down to low, but otherwise don't expect to use that setting much. The pot has a nice finish and is easy to clean, and we love the 7qt size - can easily cook 2 chickens at a time, no problem. And we find it to be plenty deep enough, too. Overall, very satisfied. If anything changes, we'll be back here, but in the meantime, no news is good news.
