I gave it to two managers, including my own
With the same easy readability of other titles in the One Minute Manager series, the Monkey is a clear metaphor for taking on the responsibilities of subordinates in overt and subtle ways. I recognized the pattern not only in my own behavior, but also in a manager in my company and another in a non-profit organization. I got a copy for both of them, to help them understand that there's a difference between helping people to live up to their responsibilities and taking on their responsibilities themselves. Good read for anybody, whether they are a manager or someone being managed. Buy it, then give it to someone else who needs it!

A "must have" for all management fields
First book introduced to me when I landed my first leadership position 30yrs ago. Very useful and important book for anyone starting their management career. I still review it from time to time as a refresher. Several other series books available as you advance within your career.

must read for managers
If you read One Minute Manager, you'll appreciate how easy & quickly you can read this book. I read the book on a recent flight (book is a fast read). I had to laugh as the author described mistakes managers make when dealing with their subordinates. I recognized mistakes that I was making as I read along. After the flight, my staff saw immediate changes in my management style. I AND they are better for me applying lessons I learned from the book. If you manager people, want them to grow, have more time to concentrate on your important tasks, I highly recommend you read this book. I thought so much of it, I bought a copy for a business associate whom I know to manager personnel. He called to tell me how much he learned while reading the book.
