So far so good
I'm using this for my clothes washing machine. I will be replacing it with a more modern one soon and I wanted additional protection. My home's electrical panel doesn't have any free circuit spaces for a whole home surge protector and this one mentions power-back surge protection. Not exactly sure how that works, but it sounds good and I have some thoughts as to how a device like this could help with that. Prior to using this, most of the time when I would start my clothes washer, an ev charger which is on it's own circuit, but of course shares the same grounding system, would have it's GFI protection kick in. That's the only time it would. The outlet and circuit for the clothes washer (and the ev charger) are wired correctly. The only down side is for this product is that it' blocks not only outlets above or below it, but next to it. Meaning I can't have the gas dryer which uses a normal 15/20A 110V outlet plugged in at the same time. I was thinking of adding a separate electrical gang box and outlet for the dryer anyway, so I will make it work, but others could run into this problem.Update Jan 7 2019: The original intent of me purchasing this has been satisfied completely. With it in place, the EV charger no longer triggers a fault. In addition, there was an electric company issue in the neighborhood a week ago where we had a brownout - voltage dropped to 105 volts and sometimes down to 94 volts. This unit indicated undervoltage and stopped the electric supply to the washing machine - thus protecting it.

Life Saver for Electronics
Life-saving equipment for computer, printer, appliance in a rural area where we have frequent surges of electricity. After the power goes off and then comes back on it delays it for several minutes to avoid surges. I have purchased several of these and highly recommend them.

Excellent so far…..
Bought 2 of these for our washing machine and refrigerator. Had the electricity go out twice and it has protected them so far. Love the fact that it has a light to show you that it is working and that it has a delay time. Definitely will recommend these to anyone who wants to protect their appliances.

Recommend this if you have frequent electrical surges or failures
Update: we've lived with this for about a year now and we live in the lightning capital of the U.S. There have been numerous strikes in the neighborhood, multiple power failures (twice/month minimum), and there have been zero problems with our smart fridge now that we have this thing protecting it. The previous refrigerator had failed multiple times in the past ten years. The negative reviews (especially the ones with misspellings) stating "not U.L." are truly mystifying. The packaging is very clearly listed UL. I think for the money spent it's been a very worthwhile "investment".Original: I love how this "times out" when there is a power failure. It prevents the fridge from turning immediately back on when power is restored. This is a saving grace for those brief off/on cycles that seem to happen here more frequently than I'm accustomed to after having lived out west. Because we did not have one of these installed on our previous refrigerator, the electronics and compressor eventually failed from the (fairly frequent) lightning-caused electrical-surge/power-failure/power-restoration cycles. This device has proven to be a very inexpensive insurance for our new fridge.

Easy to install
A few months ago our neighborhood had experience a few outages either due to storms or crazy incidents with transformers going out due to accidents. Just out of the blue...our Refrigerator quite working. We started scrambling about getting a new refrigerator...yet we we're able to find a business that was able to come out and work on our refrigerator. Turned out to be the mother board that went out. While it was getting replaced the technician suggested Appliance Shield. Fairly inexpensive and easy to install. Take the product out of the package and plug it into an outlet...that's it. We made the investment on the Appliance Shield and glad we did. We did experience a small outage a few weeks later and yet the Appliance Shield worked perfectly. Well worth the investment!
