Perfect roof mount
I was looking for a mount for a basketball backstop on my garage. This one had three mounting configuration including a roof mount option, which I used. I had a gutter on my garage, so I used a short pressure treated 2x8 board to extend the front mounting point over the gutter. It worked perfectly. The rear mounts went directly on the roof. One really nice feature is that the construction allows to roll off the roof from behind the backstop. I hadn't thought about it at all until the ball went behind the backstop. The design allowed the ball to go to either side and then roll off the roof.

Good value for the money.
After reading several of the reviews (good and bad) I ended up ordering this product as it was the most I wanted to spend for a roof mount of my basketball hoop. OK - Here's my 2 cents! 1 - This product does NOT include the screws to mount it to the roof. The manual clearly states that the screws are not included. This actually makes sense since the manufacturer doesn't know if you're going to mount it into wood, metal, tile, so this didn't phase me. $3.00 worth of lag screws at the local hardware store was all I needed. 2 - The instructions... well they crammed a BUNCH of languages into it! BUT they are actually easy to follow if you sit down and read them in your living room in a nice comfortable chair... in the air-conditioning instead of in the direct heat of the sun in the driveway. :) This product can be mounted three ways - to a pole, to the wall, or to the roof. The first section of the instructions is putting the brackets on the backboard, then you have to look for the section that applies to your mounting style. Construction - Well, it's similar to other Lifetime products in this price range. It's very basic but the metal is a bit thicker than what comes on Lifetime's $100-$200 portable unit. I was actually pleased with the thickness of the metal compared to the existing bracket on the backboard. I would buy this again.

Worked great for my installation of Lifetime Backboard Rim Combo that ...
Worked great for my installation of Lifetime Backboard Rim Combo that I ordered at the same time. Instructions were a little complex, but the illustrations were detailed enough for me to figure it out. This bracket can be used for several different applications, but worked great for mounting hoop flat on the wall above the garage. It does stick out about 9 or 10 inches, so you can take shots from the corner and avoid hitting the eave of the house. All hardware is made of stainless steel, and it was all included in the box, minus bolts to attach it to the wall. But I did have extra lag bolts that I used. So you may have to make a trip to the hardware store and drop a couple dollars on lag bolts. All the brackets seem strong, but I do not intend on dunking, so I don't think I have have a problem with bending any of the brackets. It has been up for about a month in the ocean breeze, and I have not noticed any discoloring yet. All of the hardware uses basic sockets or wrenches so you won't have to invest in any special tools to assemble. I did put a socket on my cordless impact drive that really help speed things up. All in all I am happy with my purchase and would not hesitate to buy another.

Excellent mount & Lots of screws!
Worked like a charm. Purchased the Lifetime shatter-proof backboard and needed to but the mounting brackets to put it up on the house, but then changed my mind and built a pole on the side of the house to support it. Very easy to follow instructions and assembly. I don't know what others complain about, obviously they shouldn't be putting it up as its very easy to mount. There is a total of 3 different variations of assembly like house mount, wall or pole mount you just have to decide which one you are doing and go for it. Assembly took maybe 30 min total, note that there will be quite a bit of screws to fasten, so get ready! Overall very pleased with the product & outcome.

Never do what I did!
I was at Walmart looking for a hoop for my grandson. Found one made by Lifetime, took it home and found out it didn't come with a bracket essential to connect the backboard with the garage. By the time I realized that it just wasn't happening, the barn floor was full of non compatible parts. So, I got them all together and took the backboard to Walmart and returned the bracket to Amazon. Nothing wrong with either, but I got one assembled at the Middlebelt flea market for 20$. Advice: Get everything from the same place or go to a flea market first. Remember they're only kids for a short time, hopefully yours will leave. Mine didn't

Ok, but takes some work
The hardware is fairly sturdy and makes a solid assembly when finally put together. Mounting on an old garage wall where the walls are not exactly plumb and studs not on 16” centers poses some challenges, but that would be true with any bracket. Since the siding has an overlap zig-zag shape, you can’t mount the brackets flush with the siding as that would tilt them to the slope of the siding and that would throw everything off at an angle. I screwed two pressure treated 2x4s to the wall first with shims to make them plumb and level. and this provided a solid and plumb base to attach the brackets. The instructions are a bit confusing, and you have to be careful of which holes to use for each bolt in the braces or it will not go together and there are a lot of bolts. It is easy to get one wrong and then you will have to disassemble and start over. The kit works for pole, wall, or roof mounting, and isn’t optimized for any one of them. So, it is a bit wobbly. For example, a wall mount would have wider spaced supports which would be much more solid that the narrow spacing with this kit. Nonetheless, it survived many raucous high school graduation party games.

Good Frame
This is how the pole mount is set up for a Lifetime Elite backboard. This isn't tightened down yet, or obviously no rim yet. But just to give an idea of the set up.

Extremely pleased - for all intent it certainly seems to be built to last - one very minor shortcoming. There are two inserts/sleeves provided for 1/4 in bolts that keep the mounts sides separated however, there are two 1/2 bolts that also go through both sides and when these are tightened, it is easy to over-tighten and cause a minor collapsing effect - sleeves for these bolts would certainly prevent that and would also aid in ensuring the two sides remain the correct distance apart.

Es un producto bueno, aunque tiene demasiadas piezas (tal vez ayudaría que viniera pre armado y que tarda demasiado en llegar. Mientras que la canasta llegó en una semana este producto tardó un mes.
