It’s very clear what God wants me to do!
I would courage anyone to read this book who wants a closer walk with God. But don’t stop there, make sure you slowly and carefully do the Bible study at the end. It will really make you think and go back and look and really figure out what this means in our world today. He warns about conforming to our world today.

Meet the Prophet
Rivers takes a Biblical prophet and turns him into someone you feel that you will know and emote with as God imparts His own love for Israel and His sorrow at her being wooed away by pagan gods and values. Parts of it will resonate with what we see around us in a society who's morals are deteriorating. We can hear the voice of God to us as we gain a deeper insight into God's continual call to His people in times of confusion and apostasy. Rivers has an uncanny ability to enter into her character's angst but also an understanding of the times. This story stays with you.

These are AWESOME books! Francine Rivers has a talent for bringing out the truth of these characters while presenting the pure truth of the Bible. Her stories will draw you in and teach you about cultural periods and their effects on the times. It is a GREAT way to be entertained with truth while learning history! I have ALL her books in these novellas - as well as the the ones on the Women! A FABULOUS set to own!

Excellant intro to who Amos was & what he prophetized.
The beginning was slow, but important because you are beginning to get to know Amos from his youth. What he saw and how he felt about Israel's sins. His experience as a shepard, and how we can learn from his flock, strongly ties in to how he began his service to God and how he was called. Once in the thick of this book, it became hard to put it down.

Story was too long. Trite. But had a lot of truths in it.
I liked how God used daily circumances in Amos and his Sheep's lives. "All we like sheep go astray." Like us, Sheepneed a Shepherd to lift them up when they fall down, lead them into green pastures, feeds and cares for them. Thiswas Amos' life. A poor farmer, Amos, was used by God to expose corruption in that day's leadership..

Insightful read into a bible character. Not as engaging for me as some of her other works especially near the end... seemed like a relentless hammering of the point that Amos told the people and they weren't listening... I think also readers would be interested in exploring what happened after Israel found themselves in captivity and how did Amos behave after that... but hey like the Bible it leaves us to our imagination. Thanks
