POP Freddy Krueger Vinyl Figure - ST

I finally gave in and bought my first few Funko figures. My first selections were Freddy Krueger and Funko POP: Jason Voorhees , so I could display them as Freddy Vs. Jason. The paint detail on this figurine is quite good. Black flecks on the fedora look like ash or burnt marks; the knitted red and green sweater is detailed; even the glove has shiny pewter blades.The head can be rotated around, but it's top-heavy so it may tip over in certain head positions. The whole figure is quite cute and is a lot more welcoming to put on your desk versus a screen-accurate figurine. Wouldn't it be funny to see a cute version of Freddy in a future Nightmare On Elm Street movie? Contrast the cuteness with a terribly bloody nightmare and you would have something only Freddy would dream up. Recommended. *** TIP *** You can use a silver permanent Sharpie or pen to paint over the blades to make it look shinier!

Funko Pop is basically a line of stylized vinyl figures that makes various pop culture figures "cute" with oversized heads and large black eyes. While I suppose it works with characters that are already adorable -- say, Winnie the Pooh or Mickey Mouse -- I think it's more neat to see characters that really have no business being on the line. Namely, hideously disfigured murderers with blades for fingers like Freddy Krueger. Sculptwise, the figure is pretty impressive. Given the simplified nature of the figure, there's a surprising amount of detail from the chunks missing from Freddy's burnt flesh to the weave on his sweater to the scorch marks on his hat. It would have been easy just to do a basic Freddy so they earn points for going out there. A point's taken off though just because, as usual with Funko (unfortunately), you run the risk of some sloppy painting. Granted with Freddy it wasn't as nearly as egregious as Sandor Clegane (see my earlier review) from the Game of Thrones line but it was still there. Not a huge problem and most people won't care but it's worth pointing out. The figures are less for 'play' and more for the general appeal of the design. As with all Pop! figures he comes in a reusable display box and he's sturdy enough that you can keep him on your desk or computer without worrying that he'll topple over. Overall it comes recommended if you're a fan of Freddy Krueger and you want to own an adorable child murderer.

I always order x3 to my orders cause at least I how I get 1 good package. 2 pops were face up which were the reg and box damage so I was, "Well 2 more to ship back for refund tomorrow". Then I reach in for the pop that was face down... The package looked nice so far so this can be placed on shelf. I flipped over to look at the face to see... DA DA DAAAAA..... Is the chase!!!! I couldn't believe it. I was really hoping that I would get onefor my collection. I thought that this wouldn't happen though. A $100+ pop for $9 nah this order for sure I won't get a chase in. This is order #6 in a row that I have ordered x3 pops and every order has been a chase in.. Thanks Amazon.com warehouse for them. Also though, they need to start packing way better then they are. The Funko pops are fragile and placing them in boxes that's just slightly bigger then the order just doesn't cut it or just placing the pops in a bubble wrap bag isn't protective enough. Also the employees need to stop sending pops that have been opened or are opened.
