O.S.S. [VHS]

Loving anything to do with WW2, especially espionage, spies, detectives etc, I was looking for a DVD of this movie, as my old VHS tape had finally died. I was glad to find it on Amazon. The DVD plays well with no issues (I'm in the USA). If you love WWII espionage movies, this is one you'll want to get.

This is one of my favorite movies. It is about a team dropped into France during WWII and the ups and downs of their missions. If you like old spy movies, you might like this. Before there was the CIA, there was the OSS.

I'M A OLD MOVIE BUFF ANDD ALAN LADD IS A GREAT ONE TO WATCH. THIS MOVIE SLIP PAST ME ALL THESE YEARS, AND BOY WAS IT A GOOD ONE.

Entertaining. With the usual, 'a woman has no place on this mission' lines.A much superior movie, along this vein, is "13 Rue Madeline" staring James Cagney.

This DVD arrived on time and in good condition. This was a surprising movie but Alan Ladd made it interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It wouldn't play on my US dvd player. Said it was NOT compatible with it. Not happy ...

Years and years and years since I last saw this film and what a treat it was to see it again....action and suspense and a little bit of romance in war-torn France behind enemy lines. Well-paced and, as far as I could tell, authentic in its depiction of agents dropped into occupied France. The one scene I remembered from many years ago was the restaurant scene and how the agent gave himself away. What I had forgotten, however, was how early this was in the mission and all the adventures that were to follow. Wonderful film!

Dieser Spionagethriller wurde kurz nach Ende des 2. Weltkrieges fertiggestellt und wurde ein großer Publikumserfolg in den USA. Nach meinen Unterlagen gibt es keine deutsche Synchronisation, was etwas unverständlich ist. John Martin/ Philip Masson (Alan Ladd) spielt einen amerikanischen Geheimagenten, zusammen mit Ellen Rogers/Elaine Duprez (Geraldine Fitzgerald). Sie werden von Commander Brady (Patric Knowles) vom O.S.S. nach Frankreich geschickt mit der Aufgabe, französische Eisenbahnstrecken zu zerstören. Elaine Duprez spielt eine Malerin und Bildhauerin und kreiert eine Statue des deutschen Oberst Paul Meister (John Hoyt). Beide besteigen einen Zug, der in einem Tunnel gestoppt wird. Elaine Duprez wird mit Hilfe von Philip Masson aus dem Zug geholt und Philip bringt eine Bombe im Tunnel unter - die kurze -Zeit später explodiert. Oberst Meister fällt der Explosion zum Opfer. Elaine Duprez trennt sich daraufhin von Philip und fordert ihn auf, nicht mehr zu ihr zurück zu kehren. Am Ende des Film trauert Philip um Elaine, die verschwunden ist und nicht mehr auftaucht. Der Film ist am Ende nicht ganz plausibel und die Inszenierung von Irving Pichel nach einem Drehbuch von Richard Maibaum lässt ebenfalls Wünsche offen. Irvin Pichel ist auch nicht der ideale Regisseur für dieses Werk, das hätte Raoul Walsh besser machen können. Die DVD enthält einen Trailer sowie Poster und eine umfangreiche Fotogalerie. Das Bild ist akzeptabel ebenso wie der Ton. Ich habe allerdings schon bessere Spionagefilme gesehen als diesen, z.B. "Auf Ehrenwort" von Raoul Walsh mit Errol Flynn und Paul Lukas.

Película inédita de Alan Ladd y anticipo de un genero que estaba por venir:James Bond. El productor y guionista de esta peli luego será quien guionizara la gran mayoría de títulos del agente secreto británico. Desde 1962 hasta 1989. Si eres fan de Alan Ladd recomiendo éste filme. Edición cuidada, acompañada de un libreto ameno. Imagen aceptable siendo un dvd.

Quando ero ragazzo ero un vero fan di Alan Ladd. Mi sono prefisso di raccogliere tutti i DVD con questo interprete dagli anni 30/40 in poi. Alcuni films sono mediocri , altri dei veri capolavori. Il presente rappresenta un buon film di azione considerato l'epoca.Sono soddisfatto per il servizio di amazon rapido e preciso.Mauro Martinelli
