Cast iron camper pie maker
This makes the nicest camper pies I have ever seen! No flimsy non-stick aluminum - this thing is made from cast iron! It was a little tricky getting the bread to fit inside, but it was well worth the effort once I seen the finished product. I made Reuben sandwiches and the design sealed all the good stuff inside a pocket sandwich! You can use it over a campfire or cheat a little and use it on your cook stove!

Double the fun! : )
Great product, heavy duty, do season it! I suggest if using over a campfire, that you find a good Y stick and make a hole in the ground to rest it on as you flip for heating both sides. They are smaller than bread pieces, but you can work it out, putting what you want on it. So many cooking ideas to invent.

Great, but hard to season correctly.
I bought this for camping. It brings back memories when I was a kid and we had one. My mom would make pizza pockets at night and stuffed egg sandwiches for breakfast. We loved everything she made with it. When it arrived, I followed the instructions to the "T". I seasoned it as per the instructions, then tried it out over a fire. Everything stuck and was ruined. Nothing could be eaten. I cleaned it up and seasoned it again with no luck. After another thorough cleaning, I then seasoned it like my cast iron pan's instructions. I seasoned it 4 times before using it again. Now it works right, releasing the food when opened. Now that it is working right, we have used it several times , and really enjoying it at fireside. The pizza pockets taste great as well as the breakfast sandwiches. We actually made chicken pot pies from left over fire grilled chicken and some store bought pie crusts. Fantastic! I am happy with this cooking iron and highly recommend it. It is a fantastic value for the money and it gets 4 stars. Season it using a different method the form the manufacturer and it will work great.

Makes great smores
Bought this for a gift. It's so easy to use and clean. It heats up on a fire or grill which is neat. It can be used for almost anything, simple design makes it easy to use from a burger to vegetables and pies. Heavy so may not be easy for young kids to lift

Great for camping!
Worked great! Just make sure you clean before using or the food will taste like chemicals.

I like the single, but this double was not a keeper
If you thought the single was small, the double had even slightly smaller pockets. Mine was also more rough on the inside, making it harder to clean. I've seen a newer Coghlans double that has larger pockets so maybe that is better, but its still really heavy to manage. You need to hold this up (as opposed to resting in the fire or coals) so the double makes this really hard. If you have something to prop it up with, I'd get the newer Coghlans double. Otherwise, just get singles.

Great camp cooker at a great price!
So far, so good! Important - Like with all cast iron, season before you use this! I followed the recommended instructions on the product website and seasoned for one hour in 250 degree oven. I have not taken this to camp yet, but I’ve tried it out both on the stove eye and the fire pit and it’s worked so far with a little practice. I’ve tried grilled cheese, potatoes, and fruit “pies.” My favorite so far is two slices of bread (butter the outsides) with apple butter and cinnamon on the inside. It makes a quick apple turnover! I’ve had the best results with canned fruit or preserves - your bread will burn before you get enough heat to cook fresh fruit. You could try a pie crust or phyllo dough, but so far I’ve only tried things I could replicate with little to no effort while camping with minimal ingredients that need to be kept cold. I have not found the handles to be too week as other reviews have said, but you would not be holding this constantly while cooking. You can find a log or rock to prop it up. The handles easily twist out to clean, pack or season the cooker. For the price (I paid $15), this double pie iron definitely delivers.
