Light Years: The Very Best Of

I absolutely love this this double-CD compilation of E.L.O.'s best tracks released in the U.S. and not released in the U.S. This 38-track collection has all of the best E.L.O. songs from my pre-teen to teen years. So many tracks didn't even hit or were released on the Billboard's Top 100 Chart., so there are a lot of great gems that I newly discovered. I've got this on replay in my car as that's the only CD player I have. LIGHT YEARS: THE BEST OF E.L.O. is an excellent compilation.

quality is excellent

After listening to and watching a YouTube video of ELO’s all over the world, got me really hooked into wanting their CD. I looked at a few and came across this one which was not a US release. After Reading the review from one person with a lengthy description of why he liked this UK double album version, I took the plunge. This has resparked my love of ELO and remember how much I enjoyed all that Orchestra Within their music. There are some bonus songs that I did not recognize. To which we’re more released in the UK. They have grown on me and now love every song on this light years, the very best of ELO double CD.. If you were a ELO fan, this is a must to have in your collection if you’re just coming into the music of ELO, I highly recommend you have this CD you will not be disappointed.

If you are short on ELO music, this is a very good collection to have, and it's getting harder to get. For years, I went through a phase of ignoring cds for computer mp3s, but now I'm working on hard copies of the good stuff.

Reviews for music are tilted toward more stars than fewer; already fans are the folks buying them so you can expect them to harbor a strong liking going in. I mention this because I was not a fan of ELO going in and my review is from someone with a fresh perspective. I like what I hear on these two CDs. It's clear ELO is an acquired taste and I have a ways to go but I see possibilities. What I do admire is that the recordings are technology-wise quite good, and the musical skill of the group is excellent! From what I've read of the group, their history of recordings, this is probably the only (double) album you'll ever need. I don't see buying any more.

Just what I wanted.

Growing up in the 70's I would hear ELO song over the radio and enjoyed them and sang along. In the 80's never really heard them it was all about the hair bands and my highschool/college years etc. Along comes XM/Seirus radio so i put them as one of my favorites and just would get a song now and then, just enough to want more. So i was searching on Amazon and found this one Light Years and ordered it and shows up in a day. Last night after work I loaded them onto the cars hard drive, my wife pulls up with our kids and asks what in the world are you doing. I said reliving my youth through these songs, so my sons got in the car and we sang just about every song....they said Dad, ive heard some of these songs but never knew what group played them and they are good. I said welcome to the 70's music and this is one of the best groups of that era and this is probably the best 2 cd set of this band. Luv it, thanks for the great songs all in one package and all the good memories......

When it comes to Jeff Lynne and ELO I have an obsession. If I don't have it, then I become obsessed until I do. I remember way back in the very early 70's when I first heard ELO, it was just a strange kind of magic that I , nor any of us had heard before. Over the years I've bought every album, and then eventually every CD to replace each album. Every boxed set that came out, and so forth. Then his latest album Jeff just released. Oh, and Hyde Park, which was just fantastic. This being an import I hadn't heard about until Amazon got ahold of it. So, yep.. Even though I have every song on this amazing two disk set, I had to have it.. And if you like me are an ELO fan, you'll want it yourself. And even if your not obsessed, and just want a greatest hits collection, then this is it. Jeff's picks of his favorite's from all the albums they released as Electric Light Orchestra. Buy it while it's still available.. You won't be disappointed, that I can guarantee.

Superb tracks

Sin duda alguna es el mejor recopilatorio de una banda que ha llevado la música a un nivel muy por encima de lo habitual, liderada por Jeff Lynne. Aquí hay 38 TEMAZOS que me han recordado que hubo un tiempo que hacer música era cosa muy seria y muy profesional que solo unos pocos tenían ese privilegio y ese don de hacerla, entre ellos la ELO. Así que lo único que me queda por decir es Gracias por todo lo que nos has dado y por vivir en un tiempo en pudimos disfrutar de joyas así. Amazon como siempre un 10 +1.
