A lot of solid info on Vietnam if you're planning a trip
Starting with how to easily obtain an e-visa for Vietnam on line there are dozens of good tips in this book. We ate at some Ho Chi Minh City restaurants way, way off the beaten tourist trap that were great in terms of food quality and local milieu. I loaded the kindle version onto my iPad so no extra weight required.

Seems very good to me
Seems very good to me. Well-laid out and comprehensive (but not too comprehensive or overwhelming, I mean it's not an encyclopedia but a as comprehensive as it should be). Nice maps. The side trip to Siem Reap is a nice touch. I have read through guide thoroughly twice in preparation for our upcoming June trip to Vietnam. I will see if my opinion is the same after our trip..

Unedited and Ridiculous
This book is ridiculous. If you need a book to lay out the very basics, this book will do (although any book would), but if you want useful and reliable insights and recommendations, look elsewhere. I understand that no book is perfect and that minor inaccuracies and inconsistencies can occur. But the frequency of such issues in this book suggests the book was not edited at all. Here's one example: page 30 (Essential Vietnam - 10 Days) recommends you "Dine in Ben Thanh market," but page 80 says of Ben Thanh Market - "There are better places to pick up souvenirs and much better places to eat. Once a must see in Ho Chi Minh City, now it's a place best avoided..." Writers and editors just didn't care enough to produce something worth of purchase. I won't be buying any Fodor books again. My Moon guide was far better.
