DROP Mass x Koss ESP/95X Electrostatic Headphone System with Electrostatic Energizer (Amplifier), Midnight Blue

Make that 6 Stars !! These Cans resolve resolve resolve ! My source is a PS Audio DirectStream Sr. DAC and nothing makes these fail ! I threw Dvorak New World Symphony at it (Living Stereo SACD). They sounded awesome. No fatigue, and unlike many Dynamic Cans, these sounded open and during very busy and dynamic passages, no shrillness or overloading. Playing Rebecca Pidgeon’s version of Spanish Harlem (also SACD). Her vocal sibilances were center with enough air around her voice that my custom Bose 901 rig can’t even compare (and they sound great on this track). The Eagles Last Resort. Same thing. Male Vocals (Don Henley) come through so clear and never shrill.Oh and lack of Bass ? I don’t think so. Bass only “kicks” if it’s there on the track being played. No artificial boost in the Bass or Treble region and very flat with the usual bumps at specific frequencies to keep it interesting. The Stones Let It from Let It Bleed sounds like you are listening to “Ear Speakers”. MassDrop & Koss have hit this thing out of the park and the Ball is no where to be found.My only suggestion. If you have 9VDC that is greater than the supplied Wall Wart’s 1A (I rigged a 4.4A brick with an IEC Cord and 1500uF of super low ESR KEMET Capacitors). It will not only fit it you power bar. The extra current will keep things incredibly stable if you have to keep the two Volume knobs at the “full tilt Boogie” position (as I have to with the DSD Sr.). Get the Dekoni Ear Pads form the Mass Drop site. They extend the Bass and are not as stiff as the supplied foams are.

Couldn't be happier. If you have a good quality cd player, streamer or other high end source to supply these with, you will as I do regularly hear things in songs that you have been missing all of your life. I have heard parts of songs that just haven't been reproduced in the clarity that these offer. Music that I have listened too all my life seems to just come alive while these let you hear the parts that were hidden behind other sounds that have have muffled or distorted them. Lifetime warrantee on the driver membranes. Very light weight since there are no magnets. I tend to keep reducing the volume as I get more relaxed listening to them, this lowered dB level is definitely better for your hearing over the long term.

Electrostatics. Believe the hype.Holst's Mars, the Bringer of War was an emotional experience. Never heard it so clean at the end. Miles Davis Kind of Blue made my fingers stop working as my brain dedicated every single neuron to the pure ear love that these cans were producing.Depending on the kind of music you like, these may be the best sounding setup you have ever heard. Watch some reviews from some of the very knowledgeable headphone people out there, then get back here and order these STAT.

Electrostatic headphones are normally quite costly but these are nicely affordable.I have coveted this type of headphone ever since hearing a set of Stax Lambdas ($2,300) in the late '90s. It's the first time I've ever seen ESs listing for less than $1,000. If you've never experienced the musicality that comes from this type of setup, you are in for a revelation. Koss has been a reliable company for decades and backs these beauties with a lifetime warranty.What's to lose?

Low end on these cans is a tad less impactful than I’d prefer but if you read most reviews online you’ll find that this is a common complaint. I enjoy some good bass and those reviews were one reason I hesitated in purchasing these. I’m glad I still picked them up. If you listen to pretty much anything other than dubstep you will be extremely pleased with these headphones.

I always wanted a pair of electrostatic headphones since 1980. Just couldn't see spending the money. Was able to buy two pairs of the phony ones, and they sounded great until they broke, or charge failed. Nothing beats the real thing.

Because of pristine voice and high quality of the product

There's nothing quite like electrostatic speakers and earphones. They're so clean and clear it's hard not to be impressed. The same holds true for the DROP x Koss ESP/95X headphone. I can't think of a better sounding headphone at this price point. There are better sounding headphones out there but at much greater cost. What I appreciate the most about this headphone is the Koss lifetime warranty. Eight months after I got my ESP/95x from Drop, the right element became distorted. I followed the warranty return instructions on the Koss website and shipped it back to the factory via Priority Mail. Two and a half weeks after they received my headphones it was on it's way back to me via UPS Ground. Upon receiving the headphone I put it through it's paces by running various audio tests followed by Hi-Res recordings. It's like new again. That is excellent warranty repair service from a manufacturer that stands by it's warranty claims. Koss service is world class.
