Size:6X12  |  Color:Gray - 1/8 Inch Depth Ampersand Pastelbord is a gesso and clay coated hardboard panel with a granular marble dust finish. The result is a textured board comparable to sanded pastel paper, but much more durable and versatile. Since it has a hardboard backing, Pastelbord can be used with wet or dry pastel techniques, as well as acrylics. The museum quality surface is non-yellowing and ph neutral. Available in multiple colors and sizes. Single panel, 6 x 12 x 1/8 inches, Gray finish.

If you want to achieve ultra fine details and a durable surface, go for this!
I absolutely love working on this PastelBord. I have no trouble getting white to fully cover the deep grey, and it really makes my work pop! Here's an illustration done on this board. Left side is pastel pencils, the right side is the photo I drew it from.Unlike Pastelmat, which I have also tried, this board is nearly indestructible. You can add endless layers to it and it will still accept more. Be warned, it is highly textured and will eat your pencils if you're pushing hard. But you can really get fine details in this like nothing else!

My Favorite Surface
My favorite surface to pastel paint on. It holds tons of pastel and if you don't like your end result you can rinse it off. There still will be a ghosted image but can easily be covered.

My favorite product.
This is a great product. I use it for most of my pastel work. The very rigid board makes it easy to frame, great for plein air and easy to work on. I found that I can scrub off my pastels and start again without losing much tooth. So, while it is more expensive that sandpapers, it also save you money on framing and is easily re-useable. The grit is about 320 for you artists out there. It holds a boatload of pastel.

Nice boards
This was a trial pack really for me. I use soft pastels and pastel pencils. While these do have some tooth it is not as much as a sanded paper like uart. But is certainly much better than a pastel paper. I was able to produce some pretty good pieces on these little 5 x 7 boards. I do like the fact that they are very hard boards.they make for a great substrate for pastels and pastel pencils. If your using very soft pastels exclusively you may want to stick to the sanded papers especially if you are one who uses many layers of pastel. I couldn't get a whole lot of layering done on these. But they do work ok for harder pastels and pastel pencils.

Great product. Seen it used with colored pencils.
I have ordered this product many times. It doesn't quite have as much tooth as uart or pastelmat does but somehow the bottom layers seem to make a space for the top layers in the end. I suggest harder pastels for underpaintings to reserve as much tooth as possible. The gray background sometimes is a great underpaintings in itself. Great product. Very sturdy boards. [I recently saw someone online doing excellent colored pencil paintings on this substrate...i can't wait to try that out for myself!)

Ampersand Museum Series Pastelbords Are Great
Ampersand Museum Series Pastelbord is the way to go if your a Pastel artist, and they can be used for other mediums too. If you haven't tried them yet this is the way to go. These are small but you get four different colored boards that are textured. You can take Gouache and add some color to the white or a bit more color to the tinted ones if you desire. You really do get a feel for the product and see the quality. This is why I purchased them, and I'm glad that I did because I was not sure if I would like them or not. I do and now I feel confident in purchasing larger boards, even different types of boards.

THIS IS NOT IT!!!!!
This deserve NO STARS!! I wanted to try better quality paper for my pastels, IS WAS NOT IT!! Omg the pastels doesn't even stay on this. It basically eat most of my pastel pencils and pastel chalks. My pastel paper was better than this. I dont like the paper that I used for the finished product because of its texture. I had to start all over again. DONT BUY THIS!!!
