Update to my earlier review. Sill 5 stars, but here is what we've learned since we bought the unit. If I start a batch first thing in the morning, I can start another in the early afternoon, and a third before bed. Obviously a batch every evening is convenient however, things happen or we get distracted. No worries, with a little time management I can make 3 gallons in one day, with no plastic jugs to buy and recycle. Super happy!Feb 2025. The H2o Labs distiller has been in use at our home for about a month now, and we like it a lot. We go thru a moderate amount of distilled water due to a medical condition and cringed every time we went shopping to bring home another 10 plastic jugs. So far, using this distiller is quite easy to use and clean. It does make a whirring sound as the cooling fan runs so we located it in a room we use less often. It routinely outputs slightly over a gallon per batch. We've learned that with a phone reminder every morning around 9am, we can generate 2 batches in 12-13 hours if we are paying attention. This means as we accumulate extra distilled water, soon we will only need 1 batch per day and have plenty on the shelf. Recommend keeping clean used gallon jugs with screw on tops for good seal and spill protection. Overall, we like this H2o distiller a lot, and it was very affordable compared to other options.

Second time buyer of this exact machine, the stainless steel one with clear glass carafe and porcelain spout. I left the old one with my friend and bought myself a new one. You will have to clean it every use, which is a deterrent for many fussy people, but I like knowing that my water is cleaner than bottle or tap (try all different kinds of waters and from different parts of the country, it's interesting to see what each batch leaves behind visually and the smells). Easy to assemble, it's about exactly 6 hours for a batch and the gallon size is perfect for not being too heavy at the end of the batch to maneuver. The upgrade I noticed was that it now comes with form fitted filters. The first one I bought was in 2015 and still going strong, had to only replace the gasket ring so far and that's a cheap upkeep. I did also buy a bulk citric acid to aid in cleaning. Also, I'd buy filter packets by bulk. Strongly recommend this product.

This is the first time I am writing a review for an Amazon purchase, but I just had to speak out on the H2O Labs Best-In-Class Stainless Steel Water Distiller we purchased on January 19, 2022. I will admit that this may be one of those lengthy reviews so for those of you with little patience I will say upfront that this is a stellar device. It outperforms any of our expectations and I highly recommend it.OK, for those willing to stick around for the longer version, here we go. We live on a 100 acre farm and over the past 30+ years approximately 7 gas wells have been dug on the property. All but two of those have been capped and sealed. We always wondered if some of the residual petroleum may have leached into the water table. Several years ago, we had our water tested and nothing objectionable was reported. However, when we would leave a glass of water sitting overnight, the next morning there would be a lovely rainbow of oil on the surface. I don’t think it takes an Einstein to know that something wasn’t right. Therefore, we searched for a water distiller. We weren’t prepared to spend a thousand dollars, but we wanted one we could depend on. The Best-In-Class seemed to fit both our pocket and our needs.We couldn’t be more impressed with the water it produces and how well it works. We make approximately 3 gallons of distilled water a day. This keeps us, and our animals and indoor garden, in clean, healthy water. I was a little concerned about keeping it clean, especially after seeing some pictures of heavy sediment left in the bottom. Well, let me tell you, with a minimum of care, it stays clean and smooth. After each production we put approximately 1/3 cup of vinegar in the bottom, let it sit for about 15 minutes, then we go in with a nylon scrub cloth and wash the bottom and sides thoroughly. Every other time we also add a few drops of Dawn dish soap. We rinse it thoroughly after and refill for the next batch. A little thing like plugging the cord in is made even simpler with the little white mark on each cord that tells you when you have them properly seated. They have made it as carefree as possible. We start a batch in the morning, in the mid-afternoon and then at night.I highly recommend the H2O Labs Best-In-Class Stainless Steel Water Distiller for anyone who wants to live a healthier life. If you have had issues with kidney or bladder stones, using distilled water will significantly help you reduce your chanced of getting another one. City water is filled with so many caustic chemicals we would be shocked to know. Even well water is not what we think it is. I truly believe my families health has been made better because of this purchase. Thank you for your patience. You can trust this distiller.UPDATE A YEAR LATER:We loved this distiller until we started having issues with it stopping mid process. We contacted the seller and they said "No problem we will send out a replacement thermal control and that should take care of it." We waited and waited but no replacement part arrived. We placed a second call and was told it was still sitting there and they would send it out. We waited another two weeks and still no replacement part, so called again. This time they finally sent it but replacing the part did not work. Thank goodness we had purchased Asurion insurance so we contacted them and got our money back. The machine is good but don't buy from these folks. The customer service does not exist.

The water this machine produces tastes like plastic. I specifically bought one that is supposed to be all stainless steel, only plastic is the silicone ring around the lid. I ran several runs through this thinking it might fade as it's used but that didn't help. To test whether it was the machine or our water, I ran a gallon of store bought distilled water through this machine water going on had no flavor, water coming out tastes like plastic so it's clearly the machine

I’m loving the distiller and am happy to have plastic free water

This seems to be a beneficial appliance for safer water however is not the most effective if your city's water is high in VOCs. I still have to use a Brita filter afterwards to get rid of a chemical taste and smell. I'm not sure what causes this after distillation but think it is dissolved chemicals that are coming out. I easily clean the unit by adding ascorbic acid crystals and water after each cycle then rinse it out before my next use. Not sure how much better the water is using this unit than tap water and hope to try a quality reverse osmosis system in the future.
