Love these games! They are all clever - each one amazingly different
My husband and I have done 2 real escape rooms and loved them both. During the quarantine I wanted to find something non-electronic that we could do together and a cooperative game sounded like just the thing. We started the EXIT series with the Mysterious Museum (a level 2), then Secret Lab (3 1/2). Since then we’ve also played Pharoah’s Tomb (4) and Sunken Treasure (2) and have Forgotten Island (3) and Forbidden Castle (4) waiting in the wings. Having done four of these games so far, this is what I have to say: We are absolutely AMAZED at the cleverness. I’m particularly amazed that although each game follows the same basic format (i.e. once you’ve played one you will know quickly how to play the rest), each one is completely and utterly different in terms of theme and puzzles to solve. We have seen no duplications of anything, though each game does give you more ideas about how to think for the next one. We time each clue and then enjoy going back over what stumped us. Some puzzles took 1-3 minutes, others took 20-30 minutes or more. On the first game my husband felt we were stuck too long at one point so he went for a clue, but I was sorely disappointed that we did that. Since then we tough it out - NO CLUES! Though after we’ve escaped the room it’s fun to go back and read them. Also - these are one and done games. In other words, once you solve it you won’t want to do that again (unless some time has passed and you have a terribly memory) because it’s one solution - one game. There is no variation if you play it again. BUT... for the price - it’s cheaper than two movie tickets (also one and done) and totally worth it for an evening of entertainment. They say you have to cut/tear/bend and while that’s true we managed to keep each of the games in tact and passed them along to friends. Sometimes it SAYS to cut so we cut and just taped back together. If bending was required we used our imagination so as not to deface the game or give clues to the next players. We were able to make it happen each time. So technically you can pass it along if you want to, but even if you didn’t - like I say - cheaper than going to the movies. How many people? One could do it. Two was perfect for us. MAYBE three, but the caveat is that the pieces are small and can only be looked at by a couple people at a time. If you had a group of 4 or 5, someone will be waiting. Two people is great because the ones I got quickly, he wouldn’t have and visa versa. My only complaint: the writing is quite small on some of the pieces making it really difficult for me to read. My younger-eyed husband didn’t have a problem, but if it were just me the tiny print on some of the cards would have taken away some of the joy. So far we’ve had four great date nights and had a blast. The people who aren’t liking this game obviously just bought the wrong game for them. Go into it understanding and accepting the challenge and you will do just fine. The clues are pretty good and are progressive... so lets say you take a clue and you already had figured that out - it won’t count against you and you have two more progressive clues to check if you’d like. So there is no reason you can’t finish or understand the game. Be patient, clever, and think outside the box (or sometimes inside the box, but I digress...) LOVE.THESE.GAMES. !!!

Love these games
My family and I really enjoy the Exit game series! The challenges are fun, and can be difficult. The best advice for a beginner is don't plan on finishing the game the first time. Sleep on the puzzle you got stuck on and come back to it the next day.

Must play!
This game was so much fun! I would definitely recommend it! We hope to play others in this y.

Fun, How to Play Without Ruining Game
First, if you'd like to play without ruining the game, make copies of cards Y & Z and pages 5 & 11 from the log book. I enjoyed this one, but not nearly as much as some of the others (favorites being Abandoned Cabin & Pharoah's Tomb). Several of the puzzles came quickly to me, but the last one was impossible. I'm still trying to figure out how they managed to arrive at the intended answer. If it had worked, it would have been a very cool puzzle. But, even with the help cards, I just didn't get it. The others, though, were very logical. Not always easy, but they did make sense were creative. It took me, working by myself at a leisurely pace, about 90 minutes to complete.

Excellent and very challenging edition to the series
This is my sixth Exit the Game play-through. My husband and I do these as a shared hobby and also enjoy live escape games. Compared to some of the other Exit games, I would say this is definitely a step up from beginner level, but if you're experienced with Exit games, it's solid. I found the puzzles to be challenging, for sure, but they all made sense. We never had an issue not being able to work out the solution, even though some of the puzzles took a full twenty minutes. We don't worry about time when we play, so that takes the pressure off to perform quickly. Plus, we have to have time to refresh our wine glasses. After reading some of the other reviews, I feel like it is important to point out that while I understand that it can be frustrating to not "get" a puzzle, that doesn't mean that it doesn't make sense to someone else. I see this over and over when my husband and I play: something will quickly click for me and he'll sit there looking confused while I solve it, and sometimes it's the other way around. In the case where no one in your group figures out the puzzle without help, it's not that the puzzle is at fault. And neither are you. It's just that the puzzle doesn't connect with your particular way of thinking. And that's why it's great to have the tiered clue cards. Sometimes all you need is a touch of guidance and sometimes you'll need more. The point I'm trying to make is that so far, with six games under my belt, I have yet to see a puzzle that straight up didn't make sense or couldn't be solved. I like that I don't instantly understand them all. It won't be any fun if I didn't have to push myself to find another perspective. My suggestion is to have people around you who think very differently than you do and to take the pressure of time away. If you get stuck, put it away for a day or two, or take a clue card and reconsider the puzzle. I now own all of the Exit the Game games and am steadily plowing through them. I'll let you know if I run into anything truly unsolvable. Until then, enjoy this game! It's full of excellent twists!

Best EXIT box game yet!
BEST Exit game yet! My husband, twelve-year-old kid, and I love doing these Kosmos EXIT games. We've played about ten of them and this has been our favorite so far. Highly recommend. What a great way to spend a family afternoon.

Very Difficult
This was our second attempt at an Exit game. The first was a level two and was great, it took us about two hours. This was a level three and after 4 hours we finally gave up. We are four highly educated individuals all with masters degrees. Some of the clues are impossible to figure out and were not very intuitive.

Muito divertido, é jogo de usar uma vez só pois tem de se cortar o material para solucionar o enigma, mas proporciona várias horas de divertimento (demorou cerca de 10 horas a resolver, tempo dividido em vários serões) - muito bom!

This is our first EXIT game and first escape board game. True to the reviews on Amazon, we had a fantastic time playing The Polar Station. The quality of everything in the box, including the box were excellent: nothing felt cheap or flimsy, which is why we think it is such a shame that the game could only be played once! My fiancé and I played this on our date night and we liked how the storyline was simple and straight to the point; from the get go it sets the tone as to why we must solve the puzzles to escape. The riddles were intriguing and well thought out. We did found some of the puzzles were more difficult than others so we appreciated the clue cards. Overall, we loved our first experience with the EXIT series. It was fun and challenging, it gave our brains a good workout. We will be purchasing more EXIT games in the near future!

Similar to Dead man on the Orient and Theft on Mississippi, this Kidnapped in Fortune City has a “who dunnit” element which is so up my alley and I’m totally digging it. It also has a lot of components in it compared to some of the other packs in this series. Great brain workout!
