The Ultimat Collection of John Wayne, my very favorite actor ever! purchased from Amazon.com
I saw John Wayne from the time I was very young and went to the Lincoln Theatre in Detroit< Michigan where I was born. He was just starting and was in the Western pictures with a doubed in singer, I think he was Singing Sam or something like that. I followed him down the line in his movies, but when The Quiet Man came on the screen, he became my all time favorite. he is without a doubt a good Republican, and so am I. Love his movies and copied them all when i could on TCM or Fox when they had them, purchased most, however over time. I saw the island that he lived on when in CA in 1977 and went to visit the American legion fPost at Newport Beach, CA. They told us he lives on the island and was not well, the boats would go by and whistle at him. I wished I had of met him, as I lived in Long Beach in 1952 and then in Tempe, AZ in 1960 and came thru Stanfield where he kept his cattle and had a ranch. Have pictures of his Newport Beach home and also up in AZ.MHS, AZ

The Ultimate John Wayne Collection
This is a brilliant collection for all John Wayne fans to have. All of his early movies from the 30's and into the early 40's, then they jump forward to his latest efforts in the 60's and 70's.The information I gained when I first looked at buying this was very helpful, and was partly what made me order it.The other important thing was the price. At under $7 for the whole collection I figured I couldn't go wrong either way.As I live in Australia I am always amazed at the short time it takes for me to receive the goods I order. Less than 14 days is outstanding.I know my wife and I will get many hours of enjoyment out of watching the great "Duke".

Its John Wayne!
I bought this a) because I love Westerns, b) because I love John Wayne, c) because I needed something to bring my order to $25 to get free Super Saver Shipping. For around 5 bucks, this really is a great collection of films, exhibiting a great deal of insight to the style of movies in the early 20th century. These movies are actually fun to watch too, not some hodgepodge collection of silent films which your professor will claim is cinematic gold when really its just labelled such because there wasn't much else to watch and people were still fascinated with the fact that you could make pictures move. But the great thing is that many of these are about an hour, so they don't take up too much time, and you'll still have a blast, seeing John Wayne beat up a bunch of baddies. This man's career is really incredible. The only reason this product gets four stars is because the discs are all thrown in stupid paper cases like the ones that come with installation discs for a router or something. Its really inconvenient, not to mention an insult to the films. Granted it was $5.

Excellent Movies
Some say that John Wayne was not a good actor, but then how can they explain why he made so many movies? If he had not been a good actor he would have probably been in some other business! He WAS a good actor and played his parts correctly and never "over played" any of them. Some of his early movies were a little "campy", but at the time he was learning. Good actor skills don't come overnight! He was a good actor and I am glad I found this on Amazon.

I'm not a John Wayne fan myself, but I can appreciate the work he did, and I will confess, I've seen several of these films, and I wasn't bored at all! John Wayne is an icon and prolific actor, and these are just some of the greats in his catalog of work.

Decent start to the collection
This only has a few of the more popular John Wayne movies but is a definite buy if you are just starting to build your collection. It is a good price for the amount of movies you are getting and is a good start. The more popular ones you will have to purchase separately but if you are like me and trying to get all of his movies you cant go wrong with the price.
