Very well made and collapses to a compact size
I teach and perform music and use PA gear frequently. When buying "budget friendly" mic stands and such from the local music dealers the quality and durability of what I can get with my school budget is limited. I bought the goStand for my own personal use on gigs and am really happy with it. It collapses to a very compact size, but better yet all of the collars on the tension screws are metal - not plastic as on most others, and the tripod legs extend as well giving a more stable stance on stage. I got one for my iPad mount and have been so happy with it I bought another with the boom attachment for a mic set up. They are more expensive that a lot of the others but will last much longer.

Well worth spending a bit more.
Ordered this to use with an iPad mount for a music performance outdoors. Unfortunately it didn't arrive in time and I had to borrow a friend's stand for the gig, but his was a different brand and didn't have the standard mic stand threaded top. Now that I have it, the comparison between this product and the one I borrowed is pretty stark. This one is much better, a little bit heavier and much sturdier, but also extends higher and accepts my iPad mount with the standard mic stand thread. I also like that the tri-pod legs can be extended giving greater stability. It costs more than the one my friend loaned me by about half, but it really is a superior product and I look forward to using it in the future, (already took it on a gig with me and it was great).

FOLDS DOWN TO THE SIZE OF A QUARTER!
...well...almost that small. I bought this mic stand for my husband. He's a full time musician. He mistakenly left his car unlocked after a gig one night and his last mic stand was stolen...he's been using an old one that's huge and floppy for a little while (to learn the lesson about locking his car doors) and I finally gave in and bought him this one. He loves it. The best part is that it reduces down small enough to fit inside one of his cases so that it isn't always laying out in the car trunk. It's very sturdy as well! I actually spent far less on this one than on the one that was stolen...

Sweet portable mic stand !
Almost goes up high enough...it's about 3" short of a full size stand. Sturdy and extremely portable...should come with a zippered bag but sadly it does not...luckily I also have a portable music stand of nearly the same dimensions that is slightly oversized and I can carry both in that. Buy it...it'll make gig journeys easy especially if you travel by bus or boat.

Good stand
Folds compactly. Sturdy material. Weight is fairly moderate. If you need capability to hold a 13 inch or less tablet, would recommend buying stand and holder as a combo. Bought separately they are more expensive.

Worth the investment if you're a traveling musician who plays from tablet!
I bought the goSTAND to use with the AirTurn Manos while I'm touring. (I was happy that the Manos works with a mic stand, but can't always trust venues to have a functioning mic stand, and I didn't want to tour with the heavy, stable stands I use in my studio). Pros: extremely light-weight and compact!!! Adequately high for tall users (I'm over 6' tall). Sturdy enough to check in a suitcase without worry, small enough to pack in a backpack if you're not checking luggage. Really stable and adjustable to accommodate un-level floors. I wasn't worried to mount an iPad Pro on it- there are heavier, less-stable stands out there on the market. Cons: As some have noted, this isn't going to be as stable as your 10lb+ studio stand, and this isn't heavy-grade metal. That said, for something that's under 3lbs and can fit in your suitcase, this is hard to beat. If you are overly worried about stability, you could always sand-bag the feet, but honestly, I don't think that's necessary.

pretty fragile and flimsy
Fragile, not a good item for a working traveling musician except in emergencies.

This is not the cheapest but it does fold up really small as a buskers mike stand and its sturdy when assembled. Happy to recommend.

Not extremely stable stand. Tablet on top and the stand is pretty shaky.

There are lots of much cheaper and similarly compact stands available but the magic trick that makes the goSTAND worth paying extra for is the extending legs. Those extra few centimetres make it almost impossible to knock over, even with a heavy microphone and plenty of accessories, including a guitar, attached. It's also handy if you are setting up on an uneven floor. I wish all mic stands had them. Simple and brilliant. The stand itself will, of course, wobble a bit, especially when fully extended - the shaft at the top is just too thin to stay fully rigid - but it can hold a lot of weight. Using a clamp-on bracket, I attach a heavy semi-acoustic guitar to mine, and a shelf for drinks etc, as well as a weighty microphone, all quite close to the centre of gravity but without any need to carefully balance them. I can push it quite far and it still won't fall over. I have even used it to hold a battery amp weighing a few kilos and it works well enough, though it seems rather wobbly with the top shaft extended - it should be strong enough but it feels precarious. Though you lose about 20-25cm by retracting that, it's still high enough to reach over seated people's heads. I am sufficiently impressed with this that I purchased a second stand, mainly for this purpose. The engineering is reassuringly solid and mostly heavy steel. The clamps hold on tightly, even under significant strain (see above). Because it uses so much steel it collapses very fast - too fast, in fact. Be very careful to hold the tube above when you undo a clamp because, when the tube slides down unimpeded, it goes fast and carries a lot of force. Those clamps really, really hurt if you happen to have the skin between two fingers in the way. I speak from blood-blistering experience. It is just a few centimetres shorter than I'd prefer. I'm 175cm (5'9") and, without a gooseneck, I need to stoop a little if I need to get close to the mic. It's OK from a foot or two away without one, and a 6" gooseneck is more than enough to get it to a good height for me.. It looks a little unusual thanks to all those clamps and the tapering size of the tubes, but it's inconspicuous, much less noticeable with a mic lead wrapped around it, and I quite like the tech aesthetic.
