Firstly the speakers look really cool... probably not the most important attribute when buying speakers, but hey, we all like good looking things don't we. I wanted a good quality set of speakers for my new WFH (Working From Home) setup and even though I've always had much cheaper PC speakers in the past, which have worked faultlessly and sounded perfectly acceptable, I wanted to go a 'step up' with my new desk. If I'm going to be using something for 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, then good quality becomes a little more warranted. All the Edifier speakers have pretty good reviews and even though I was prepared to spend a little bit more I liked the look and size of these, so got them. They feel robust, well engineered and well built, with all the tactile and visual impressions of a quality product. £139 is probably a little much for PC speakers, but strictly speaking they are listed as bookshelf speakers not PC speakers. However, a little purpose re-appropriation is needed during these changing times were living in. The sound is clear, crisp, and clean even at loud volumes, and they can go very loud indeed; way louder than I though or would ever really have use for in this setting. They would do well in a small house gathering where reasonable volumes of music are required in a large living room. The functions and controls are basic, concise and intuitive, so aside from a perhaps little reading for Bluetooth pairing, you'll probably never need to consult the manual. I didn't even know they had Bluetooth when I ordered them, so this is a nice bonus. I wanted speakers that could handle input from both my desktop, and work laptop easily, and the two phono inputs make this a breeze. The six button remote is functional and easy to navigate, though the dead on arrival battery had me initially feeling the product was faulty, a quick battery change averted my initial disappointment and I was back in business. The frequency spectrum is pretty well reproduced throughout the high and mid frequencies and the sound clarity is quite striking. The bass is deep, solid and punchy without being booming or overbearing in the higher bass frequencies as is common with speakers this size. Even though I have heard more impressive bass from speakers similarly sized, I have to take into account the price point, which makes these very impressive indeed. I didn't actually test the Bluetooth connection seeing as I've not really got much need for it (yet), so can't comment on it's performance, but connecting is relatively straight forward. Anyway, I'm very pleased with them and think they make a great addition to my setup. The one aspect I found oddly niggling is the fact the the top surface is not flat/horizontal, so I can't actually put anything on top of them, but again, these are really for a bookshelf so I have to let this irk slide on account that they were not meant to be Desk pedestal's. Highly recommended.

I bought these for £79.99 a little over a year ago back when very little was known about them, I decided to take a leap of faith as the reviews I could find were very good. The design is great and you have the option of keeping the grills on for a classy look or take them off to make them look a bit more modern or if you want to see the speaker go womp-womp-womp when playing bass at high volume. The speakers are slightly angled upwards meaning the best place would be on the desk I however have then about 20 cm above my head on a shelf and they sound fine. The only thing I dislike is the green coloured 3.5mm jack no idea why it is so inconsistent with the rest of the design. The speakers are very easy to use pretty much plug and play... after a buying an adopter for the UK plug, I did not buy these speakers for the Bluetooth but I found myself using it frequently with my ipad and android phone just because of how quick and easy it was to connect. You can easily adjust the treble, the bass and volume on the side of the right speaker. The remote is small stylish and easy to use although a bit easy to lose. However the main reason you buy as speaker is for the sound. I am no expert on audio so this is based on my perception. The speakers sound clear even on the highest volume which is loud enough to fill the flat I live in with music. Voices and sound effects come in clear when watching films and playing games. I can listen to them a whole day without getting tired and often do, in my opinion there is an emphasis on the bass which is surprisingly powerful for speakers this size almost enough to rival a small subwoofer because of this I have the bass knob turned about half way down which I think sounds more natural however I have turned the bass knob all they way up when listening to certain kind of music and for most volume the bass is tight and punchy while at the highest volume It doesn't sound distorted but definably a little more lose. I have asked a few friends of what they though of the sound and how much the speakers cost and no one guessed under £200 and I agree with them they sound and look like something that should be much more expensive. So the speakers sound great, look great, easy to use and are reliable as I have had no trouble after a year of use. One of the best purchases I have made. I saw that the price had went up to £125 I assume because the speakers became more well known, I still think that they are a great choice even at the new price. I can't believe how little I paid for them especially when I heard sound systems that were much more expensive that in my opinion sounded worse. I don't think you can really go wrong with these great choice for pretty much anyone.

Bought these speakers as a secondary set based off of Zeos Pantera (Z reviews) falling in love with them. If you have seen the video, these actually match his description: Nice design, well built, really good dials with a satisfying bump as well as nice audio quality. They are surprisingly small, given how "big" the sound produced is, thanks to DSP they sound signature stays constant which is a big plus for all volumes of listening. Very warm overall, with superb mids and highs that add a sparkle without getting close to jarring (either way, easy fix with the bass and treble knobs). One critique which I and many others have experienced is that the bass can get overbearingly "boomy" which also means a lack of punch on the low end. This is the result of tuning and bass ports to compensate for the small 4" midrange drivers. There is an easy fix which is simply limiting the airflow through the bass ports by stuffing it with light to light-medium density foam. It does considerably reduce the boom and bring a bit of punch back (but by no way do the become punchy like studio monitors). The Bluetooth is acceptable, does have a noticeable lack of quality compared to the conventional audio jack; less lower end with slight reduction in the highs. Considering the build quality, sound, convenience and price. There is definitely no surprise why people claim this to be the "best bang for buck" powered speaker. I'm trying to think of possible alternatives to these but none come to mind unless you want to pay a lot more and have the preference for analytical and "dull" studio monitors. So yes, buy!

Nach der Umgestaltung meines Wohnzimmers wollte ich zwei Hörbereiche aufbauen, einmal Sofa mit 5.1 und einmal Schreibtisch mit Stereo. Zuspieler sollte für beide Zonen mein PC sein, meine Soundkarte sollte sich um die Verwaltung der Tonquellen kümmern, desweiteren waren TFT (per DVI) und TV (per HDMI) an meine Grafikkarte angeschlossen. So konnte ich für alle Spiele die Maus und Tastatur erforderten (Shooter, Rollenspiele) am Schreibtisch Platz nehmen und mich fürs Spielen mit dem Gamepad sowie zum Filme schauen aufs Sofa vor meinen Fernseher werfen. Um den Hörplatz Sofa wurde ein bereits vorhandenes 5.1 Set Edifier S550 aufgestellt und ausgerichtet, nun fehlte nur noch die passende Beschallung für den Hörplatz Schreibtisch, Preislimit 200 EURO. Das Edifier S550 kommt bereits mit einem Subwoofer daher, deshalb war 2.1 am Desktop für mich keine Option mehr, ich wollte mir keinen zweiten Subwoofer ins Wohnzimmer stellen. Also musste ein 2.0-System her was bei jeder Menge Shooter-Explosions-Action für genügend Tiefe sorgt, aber dabei auch Dialoge und Musikuntermalung mit entsprechender Dynamik wiedergeben konnte. Keine leichte Aufgabe. Ich kürze die Wochen der Überlegung, der Planung und der Vergleiche mal ab indem ich folgende Aussage tätige: Weil mir mein Edifier 5.1-System schon einige Jahre eine Menge Spass gemacht hat war ich bereit auch dem R1700 des gleichen Herstellers naheliegenderweise eine Chance zu geben. Beginnen werde ich mit ein paar negativen Punkten, auch diese möchte ich fairerweise erwähnt haben. Davon sollte sich niemand abeschrecken lassen, die Liste ist deutlich kürzer als die der positiven Punkte. Beim Einschalten des Systems knackte es einmal aus dem rechten Lautsprecher und zwar in dem Moment wo die grüne Betriebsleuchte angeht. Kein lautes Knacken, aber wahrnembar. Ich vermutete einen Defekt und sendete das Set in erster Instanz zurück, allerdings legte auch die Ersatzlieferung dieses Verhalten an den Tag. Der Sound von PC über Bluetooth an das R1700 ist gruselig, klingt irgendwie kaputt. Hier möchte ich aber nicht ausschliessen das dies an meinem Bluetooth-Stick liegt. Darüber hinaus ist diese Funktion für mich nur ein netter Bonus, kein Kaufkriterium, weil ich die Lautsprecher sowieso analog per Cinch am Front-Audio-Header anschliessen wollte. Unterm Strich sind das natürlich zwei Minuspunkte, wobei der erste mich im Nachhinein nicht weiter stört, der zweite für mich keine Bedeutung hat und beide zusammen die angedachte Funktion in keinster Weise beeinträchtigen. Das mag für den ein oder anderen interessant sein, sorgt aber bei mir für keine Abwertung. Kommen wir nun zu den schönen Dingen und davon reichlich. OPTIK Die Lautsprecher sehen wirklich toll aus, schlicht, aber einzigartig. Das verbaute Holz wirkt edel und hochwertig, die Spaltmaße stimmen, sie bringen gut Gewicht auf den Schreibtisch. Drehregler für Lautstärke (gerastert, aber endlos), Bässe und Höhen (beide ungerastert mit fester Skala -6/+6) befinden sich rechts am rechten Lautsprecher und lassen sich auch im Dunkeln gut erfühlen. Lediglich die Lautsprecher-Abdeckungen werden der restlichen Verarbeitungsqualität nicht ganz gerecht, ziehen innen Fäden und sind nicht ganz sauber verklebt. Da ich meine Boxen gerne offen trage liegen die Abdeckungen im Schrank und so stört mich das nicht weiter. HANDHABUNG Angeschlossen sind die R1700 per Cinch am Front-Audio-Header meines Gehäuses der intern mit meiner Soundkarte, Asus Xonar D1, verbunden ist. Die hinteren Anschlüsse der Soundkarte sind 3 x analog mit dem Edifier S550 verbunden. Über die Xonar-Software kann ich mit wenigen Klicks zwischen den hinteren und den vorderen Eingängen umschalten um 5.1 fürs Sofa zu haben oder halt 2.0 am Schreibtisch, perfekt. KLANG MUSIK Neugierig startete ich als ersten Test den MediaMonkey um mal zu hören wie sich die Edifier bei Musik so schlagen. Ich bin begeisterter Anhänger Elektronischer Tanzmusik (Dance, Handz Up, Trance, Hardstyle), also mal ein paar Referenznummern ausgepackt...und gestaunt. Egal ob spassiger Hanz Up/Dance, melodiöser und weit gefächerter Trance oder härtere Gangart Hardstyle, der Sound wird abgespielt wie er sein soll. Kräftig im Bass, glasklar in den Stimmen, Dynamik in den Höhen. Weiter gekramt und mal etwas Alternativer zu Werke gegangen, Soundtrack von der Eiskönigin (Zum ersten Mal), Child Of Light (Off To Sleep), Wolfenstein The New Order (I Believe), Rock von Bon Jovi und Peter Maffay, John Murphy (Strobe). Mitreissende Instrumentalpassagen, knackige Darstellung und Räumlichkeit von Instrumenten, grade bei sehr vocallastigen Stücken hat man das Gefühl die Sänger sitzen hinterm Bildschirm. Absolute Begeisterung von der ersten Minute an. Mittlerweile laufen die Lautsprecher gut 1.5 Monate bei mir und der positive Ersteindruck ist geblieben. Auch wenn es vorher nicht so gedacht war nutze ich die R1700 auch sehr viel fürs Musik hören und schmeisse mein "grosses" Edifier S550 eher selten an, obwohl dieses durch den Subwoofer im Stereobetrieb das Geschehen nach unten hin druckvoller abrundet. Erwähnen möchte ich an dieser Stelle noch das die Musikwiedergabe nicht vollkommen neutral ausfällt. Egal bei welcher Musikrichtung, grundsätzlich würde ich die Edifier als etwas basslastig einstufen. Nicht übertrieben, aber für mich hörbar. Mir persönlich, grade auch mit meinen musikalischen Präferenzen, gefällt das sehr gut so, Menschen die mehr Wert auf eine neutrale Abstmmung legen könnten sich hier unwohl fühlen. KLANG SPIELE Eigentlich lag hier meine Hauptanforderung. Nachdem ich durch das Musikerlebnis schon hin und weg war waren meine Erwartungen beim Gaming entsprechend hoch. Ich kam hier von einem (aufgrund der Räumlichkeiten) schlecht aufgestellten 5.1 und war gespannt ob ich die Ortbarkeit ("Hinter mir zwitschert ein Vogel") mit dem Schritt zu 2.0 vermissen werde. Also das neue Call Of Duty gestartet und gleich die erste Explosion schoss mich aus dem Sessel. Genauer gesagt war es der Luftzug aus den Bassreflexrohren, darauf war ich nicht vorbereitet. Kugeln und Patronenhülsen flogen mir um die Ohren, dort bellte mir ein Pixelkrieger von links Befehle zu, Drohnen stürzten sich von Himmel auf mich hinunter, irgendwo schlugen Raketen ein. Ich war intensiv im Spielgeschehen wie nie zuvor, unglaublich! Beim nächsten Kandidaten ging es deutlich ruhiger zu. Risen 3, entspannt auf einer Insel durch den Dschungel. Meine Begleiterin wirft mir mit Leichtigkeit munter Sprüche um die Ohren, dort flattern Papageien, weiter hinten kreischt ein Scavenger, hier plätschert ein See der von einem donnernden Wasserfall flankiert wird, dramatische Musik erklingt, ich werde angegriffen und ziehe meine Klinge die klirrend auf meine Gegner niedergeht. Diese Eindrücke entstanden nur durchs Höhren, so hat mich noch nie ein Rollenspiel in seinen Bann gezogen. An dieser Stelle kann ich meine Eingangsfrage mit einem klaren "Nein" beantworten, ich vermisse den ungünstig realisierten Raumklang von vorher kein bisschen, stattdessen kann ich die Feststellung machen das gutes 2.0 schlechtem 5.1 vorzuziehen ist. SONSTIGES Was die Lautstärke angeht bin ich wirklich überrascht wieviel Potential in den kleinen Edifier liegt. Sie beschallen meinen Schreibtisch mit ihrem Stereo-Klang das es eine Freude ist und haben auch keine Probleme von ihrem Aufstellungsort das gesamte Wohnzimmer (16 Quadratmeter) mit gehörig Pegel zu versorgen. Die Wiedergabequalität verschlechtert sich dabei übrigens nicht, der klare Sound bleibt konstant. Der Regler für die Bässe kommt mir sehr gelegen, grade wenn man zu später Stunde noch etwas Spielen möchte und aus Rücksicht zu den Nachbarn diese soweit es geht rausnehmen kann. Der Kippschalter zum An-/Ausschalten auf der Rückseite ist auch von vorne gut durch tasten zu erreichen. Das der Bassreflexport vorne liegt war ein Kaufkriterium. Die Lautsprecher lassen sich bei mir auf dem Schreibtisch nur wandnah aufstellen und bei rückseitig verbauten Ports wäre mir die Gefahr zu gross gewesen wäre das sich ein Dröhnen entwickelt. Eine kleine Fernbedieung in Klavierlackoptik gibt es mit dazu. Habe sie zu schätzen gelernt weil sie doch ganz praktisch ist um die Lautstärke anzupassen wenn man auf dem Sofa liegt und vom Schreibtisch aus Musik hört. Ein komplettes Kabelpaket wird mitgeliefert, Cinch auf Klinke (bei mir in Benutzung), Cinch auf Cinch und ein Verbindungskabel für die Lautsprecher untereinander (leider kein genormter XLR, sieht nach Eigenentwicklung aus), vorbildlich, so kann man gleich loslegen. FAZIT (ENDLICH) Oha, ganz schön langer Text...wenn ich einmal anfange...also um es wenigstens hier kurz zu machen, wer mit den aufgeführten negativen Punkten leben kann bekommt hier bei all den positiven Punkten wirklich ein tolles Pärchen aktiver Lautsprecher für den Schreibtisch, welche viel Spass in Games und Musik mit sich bringen.

COSA CERCAVO AL MOMENTO DELL'ACQUISTO? Detta con tutta sincerità, non stavo cercando casse pronte all'uso da comprare, bensì volevo costruirmele da solo per via della scelta dei materiali e componenti che, pur spendendo la stessa cifra, sarebbero stati di gran lunga più performanti. Scelta quindi la lista dei materiali, ho fatto un giro su Amazon per scopiazzare un po il design finale di qualche sistema audio fra i più blasonati finché non mi imbatto in queste Edifier R1700BT mooolto carine già esteticamente (eh si perché anche l'occhio vuole la sua parte). Leggendo poi un po di dati tecnici e recensioni mi è caduto il mondo addosso: le costruisco o le compro già belle pronte all'uso? Dopo un travaglio mentale di 3 mesi decisi di comprarle ed eventualmente restituirle... tanto con Amazon... figurati! IL CORRIERE & L'IMBALLAGGIO | "u cartuni" (in lingua calabrese) Ovviamente, la consegna non si è fatta aspettare per niente; arrivata nei tempi stimati; Aprendo la scatola il primo sorriso :D Imballaggio pressoché perfetto con tanto polistirolo espanso e bustine velate semi-trasparenti a proteggere ogni singolo componente/cavo/libretti vari; Tolte le bustine dalle casse, un piacevolissimo odore di legno/nuovo salta al naso. IL MONTAGGIO Molto semplice ed intuitivo: le due casse si collegano fra di loro attraverso un cavo nero di circa 2mt (all'apparenza e al tatto di buona qualità) dal diametro apprezzabile e con, alle estremità, due connettori multipolari; Collegato al pc tramite un classico/misero cavo jack/rca e alimentato con il suo cavo di rete; LA PRIMA ACCENSIONE Una volta portati al centro i due potenziometri per la regolazione degli alti e dei bassi (operazione semplificata per via dello "scatto" che fa il potenziometro una volta arrivati al centro della scala/corsa dello stesso), procedo con l'accensione attraverso l'interruttore sul retro; Appena acceso passano circa 1,5s prima di vedere il led verde, Ottimo! il sistema anti bumb (mi sembra che si chiami così) evita il danneggiamento delle casse all'accensione portando l'alimentazione ai livelli di esercizio in modo graduale; IL COLLAUDO | RODAGGIO Inizio abbassando tutti il livelli audio del pc e mettendo una bella song dai suoni molto articolati, alzando graduatamene sempre gli stessi livelli, ne trovo uno intermedio di esercizio ed inizio la regolazione attraverso i potenziometri sulle casse; Una volta trovata un buona regolazione alti/bassi, le spingo un pochino (ma non al massimo) per farle rodare un pò. Trovata quindi questa regolazione dei toni, preferisco non toccarli più per non consumare le slitte dei potenziometri che con il passare del tempo potrebbero danneggiarsi; Edifier questo lo sa bene, infatti nel potenziometro del volume questo problema non si pone visto che, essendo a rotazione infinita, serve a dare solo degli impulsi di livello all'amplificatore interno che alimenta in modo diretto le casse. Ottimo sistema; Secondo una mia personalissima logica, finisco il rodaggio quando non sento più uscire dalle casse quel piacevole odore di legno presente fin dai primi utilizzi (dopo circa 1/2 mesi). Finito il rodaggio inizio a spingere, sempre in modo graduale, le casse che iniziano a farsi sentire nella loro pienezza; IL SUONO | CONSIDERAZIONI FINALI Se le consiglierei? Certamente! è uno degli acquisti più riusciti che abbia mai fatto! VOLUME BASSO/ MOLTO BASSO Mi capita spesso di ascoltare musica stando al pc anche a notte fonda (2/3AM) e, per non svegliare tutti, la tengo a livelli molto bassi riuscendo ad apprezzare le buone qualità sonore; VOLUME MEDIO A questi livelli, si può apprezzare la pienezza di tutti i suoni che compongono un brano, agevolati anche dai potenziometri per poter regolare gli alti e i bassi a proprio piacimento; VOLUME ALTO / MAX Quì il mio secondo sorrisone: Distorsione addio! A questi livelli si apprezza la potenza, i bassi decisi e gli alti puliti che rendono il suono piacevole (anche se i timpani vi diranno addio da li a breve) e con un livello di distorsione prossimo allo 0 udibile solo da un orecchio ben allenato. CONTRO: Il prezzo.. le volevo regalate! (ahahah scherzo! prezzo OTTIMO!) PRO: Sicuramente il prezzo. Suono potente e pulito, qualità dei materiali ottima e soluzioni tecniche degne di marche mooolto più blasonate.

Let's start from the top. A brief introduction: I am a hobbyist music producer, so I know sound in general. My review is more likely objective and directed to audiophiles rather than casual listeners. 1) Looks: Looks amazing. A polished wooden finished box with speakers attached to it with fine screws gives it a more authentic and free feel, as if you want to you can replace other brand speakers in the same box. It feels great to just have it as a show piece. Sum total, a very premium woody clean look that fits just right in a well maintained room. 2) Placement: These are "near field" speakers, which means when you arrange them, make sure to arrange both in the same way. Like may be the left one in a 80 degree angle, and the right in a 110 degree angle giving you a perfect center. These speakers would not work great if arranged in a more room filling manner like the home theaters. 3) Sound: The most beautiful, sweet and mellow sounding speakers I have ever heard. Now, For the type of listeners who has more of a posh taste in music would love these. A book in hand, a cup of good tea, mellow lights in the room, good songs and beautiful ears is the perfect combination that these speakers demand. For music producers, a little equalizer would make these sound even beautiful, vocal and mid level instrument mixing is a charm. Generes like Pop, Rock, Metal, Classic, Jazz, Blues, Acapella, Ambient is glamorous but Hip-Hop, Trap, Rap, certain Bollywood, is not just it's forte. Why? Well. These aren't the speakers with a big sub woofer that will give the room a crack if played loud. These aren't like the car sub woofers that shakes the ground when a Rap is played. These can't deliver those. In summary, if you are more like a mellow listener, These are the sweetest speakers with a crystal clear mid and high range, with a hint of thumping bass. But it doesn't shake floors with 55 Hertz frequencies. 4) Others: Connectivity -> It comes with a rca - 3.5 cable, and rca - rca cable. Both good quality and very long cables. Can go directly with soundcards, TV, DVD Systems, PC, anything. The Bluetooth is flawless. I never felt a low audio quality and never have I experienced any frequency disturbance. So in summary of all, If you are planning to shake the floors of your neighbor, don't go for these, but if you are planning to satisfy your soul for great sound, these are just the right ones.
