Weight Training for Women: Exercises and Workout Programs for Building Strength with Free Weights Review: Well, my wife seems to really like the book - Honestly, I bought this because my wife kept talking about getting busy with weight, lifting and not actually doing it. I was hunting around for something to give her as a guide and came across this book. She’s actually been using it, it’s sitting open next to her on the training mat while she’s making use of the movements and following the pictures Somewhat diligently. so I think for a beginner or reluctant weightlifter. This book does set you on a good course for a proper start of a weight lifting program. There’s a nice balance between visual and textual information. Well done. Review: This book will help me get back in shape & I recommend giving this book a try. - Wow! This is a great book for anyone, especially someone who wants to have good form whether exercising with body weight or free weights. Although the book says it is for those new to weightlifting, I weightlifting for decades and really need this book as a refresher because I have not lifted in more than 10 years. The figures in the book show proper form and are easy to follow.

Helped me get back into it
This book is simple but yeah, the reviews are right, you need to do a lot of flipping back and forth in the book to actually perform any of complete (and nice) workout programs in the back. That needs to be improved. Other than the photos are clear, and the explanations are accurate. Thought it was clever they managed to portray a woman who is miraculously unable to be identified by any particular ethnicity. Hmm.

Excellent for home work out
I've been lifting hand weights and bars for several years. Recently the routine felt stale and I wondered if my form was becoming sloppy with the same routine. This book offered a change up with many new exercises that fit well with my standard lift routine. Gives excellent directions and has clear drawings of the movement that are easy to follow. Use it for every work out now and enjoy experimenting with new exercises and ideas for alternate postures (easy or harder). Appreciate the talent of this writer and the consideration she has shown in these beginning/intermediate lifts and exercises.

Good-enough book for beginner but too basic for me...
Although the intro was very good and the book offers a number of good exercises for the use of barbells, the collection comes off as basic and somewhat simplistic for people with experience using barbells. For example, rather than list an exercise for biceps, I would have liked a listing of variations on that exercise that would target various aspects of the bicep. Same for other muscle groups. Essentially, nothing to rave about.

Excellent book! Highly recommend.
This is the best weight lifting book I've ever purchased and I have bought many over the years. The author does a beautiful job of breaking down each exercise with easy-to-follow steps and pictures to show proper form. She also puts warm ups, exercises, and cool downs together in several routines that take about 45 mins. I'm so happy I found this book!

I am using this to improve my strength without a gym
This book is simple and easy to follow, and best of all you do not need a gym to use it. The exercises focus on things yo can do at home using bar bell weights and free weights. So far, the instructions and the photos have been easy to follow. There are nice training plan recommendations in the final chapter of the book- very good for beginners.

An excellent introductory book for any woman who is new to lifting free weights and wants to do workouts at home and/or supplement a weightlifting at the gym. The illustrations are very clear and straightforward. There are some excellent weekly workout programmes to exercise different muscle groups at the end of the book. Well worth the money.

just arrived but i've spent 10 minutes flicking through. very pleased. nice diagrams. simple instructions. short but useful explanations. perfect for me to build up my knowledge and help get me started as a person who has never picked up a dumbbell before in her life until a few weeks ago. i had originally bought on kindle but returned it after a minute or two as i realised i wanted the book propped beside me when i try things out.

Really nice book that guides those of us who aren't pro gum people. Love the work outs listed and instructions for all of them with pictures. Easy to work out at home with a few weights and nothing crazy, even have modified options to easier or harder. Highly recommend for any woman wanting to get started and aren't sure what to do.
