This is a good item. I borrowed a friends monopod that had the item on it. It is very stable

Excellent Monopod support
Very happy with it. My only complaint is that it is heavy, and honestly it probably should be in order to support the weight of the camera and monopod. I just wasn’t expecting the weight. This adds to the versatility of my monopod and is a wonderful addition to my kit.

One defective leg would not lock.
The product is unusable for my intended use. One of the legs was defective and would not lock into place when extended. The actual materials and workmanship looked good though. I would certainly have kept it if not for the defect.

Almost 5 stars.
I received a defective piece of kit. The cutout in one of the three legs is deeper than the others, so when fully depressed, it sits off-kilter. This problem can be circumvented by moving the ball joint but then I lose the stability of fully locking down the ball joint. I specifically bought this model because I can lock down the ball joint for full stability but that idea is now ruined. If it were not for this one tiny defect I would rate 5 stars because it is a solid and sturdy item. Great build quality apart from the sole defect.Update: increased my review to 3 stars because it's honestly a fantastic product. I just got a bad apple.

Great Construction, Bad Design
I bought this monopod base in an attempt to save a little money over the purpose built Sirui. It’s very well built and looks like it would do the job, but after using it today while photographing wildlife, I realized it has a glaring design flaw. It relies on a single screw to connect to the monopod. This creates a flimsy connection point, and limits panning ability. Panning to the left unthreads, or loosens, the base and panning to the right over tightens the screw, even with a ball head installed up top. It actually snapped the plastic threaded insert in my monopod leg, right where the thread on the base stopped (from an engineering perspective that’s the highest stressed point). Perhaps if you had a better monopod to start with (mine is converted from a mefoto roadtrip tripod), or you added some thread-locker (which would make modularity more difficult) it might work better, but threads really aren’t designed to take torsional loads as they’re loosening. My advice is to really consider how this base is going to work for your needs before buying it. For me it did not work. Thankfully Amazon’s return policy is great. I will be spending the extra money on the Sirui P-204SR.

For the price, it's not bad
The ball joint was SUPER tight at first, loosen up afterwards. My biggest complaint is... whatever you mount on it, there's a tendency to mount will loosen when you pan to the left. There doesn't seem a way to tighten it so that this doesn't happen.
