Saved my Sanity
My husband suffered a couple of fractured vertebras a few months ago and he has been in a lot of pain. He would wake up at least ten times a night to go to the bathroom and I would get up to help him. He recently went to the emergency room and they used a similar product on him. When we got home I got busy researching the product and this is what I found. After seven months of of 24/7 I am finally getting some sleep. We are on day 9 of using this product and so far there have been no leaks and no issues. It has worked great for us.I did quite a bit of research and read many of the reviews. I got some tips on what to expect, but I thought that for Twenty dollars we couldn't really go wrong. I read about the difficulty of removing it, and bought some products to minimize the pain. With those tips plus my own techniques, pain has not been an issue at all.I purchased small pads to remove adhesive, a liquid that is supposed to breakdown the adhesive. But I have found that the best product to use is grape seed oil and a q-tip. I also used olive oil, and it does work well, but grape seed oil works better. The oil breaks down the adhesive much better than other more expensive products. I hope this review and these tips help others.

Does not stay on. Poor adhesive.
Trying to collect a urine sample due to incontinance, condom does not stay on. Urine leaking everywhere. Not worth the price either

Just what was needed
I like the ability to customize the tube length. If the length is correct, there will be a totally comfortable fit so that you won't notice any "tug" or it's presents while sitting, standing or walking. The only way that this unit could leak is by not installing the hoses far enough on the connectors. I can see a possible problem with installation of these hoses by individuals with arthritic hands or compromised grip strength. I had enough hose left over that could be installed as a temporary extension down stream of the bag shut off valve so that the bag would not have to be removed for safe drainage. Great product and answer to an embarrassing problem!! My only recommendation is that better instructions be included for measuring and cutting the hose for proper fit and comfort. Also better general instructions for hose installation and use.

Didn't work at all for me
The bag and tubing are excellent quality, but the part that ....... ahem....... rolls onto you doesn't work very well. Slips off withing minutes of installation. I saw websites with tips to keep it secure, but none of their ideas worked at all for me. Tried a wide variety of condom sizes, not enough improvement to make this practical. Somebody needs to build a better mousetrap, this just doesn't work as well in reality as it does on paper.

How to best use this external catheter.
Four stars rating was given because of the excess adhesive at the opening of the condom as noted in my review. The adhesive is abundant and is the pretty much the length of the condom. Be very careful not to allow hairs to get stuck to the adhesive. This makes the condom extremely painful to remove. To help prevent this problem I fold a paper towel in half than in half again. Cut the corner of the paper towel in a small arc creating a hole in the towel. Place the hole in the towel over the shaft, which keeps the hair contained behind the towel while rolling on the catheter. Insert as far into the area near the hose attachment end as possible. This is very difficult because of the adhesive. The adhesive is all the way to the beginning roll of the condom and will interfere with the use of this product. I use rubbing alcohol and wipe the opening rim to clean the adhesive in this area to prevent this from happening. Applying a thin film of water-soluble lube will help with insertion. Frequently the condom will collapse after urination, probably because the warmth of the urine creates a slight vacuum when it begins to cool. This restricts the flow of urine out the end of the condom. The further the insertion into the condom the better the results

Good for LONG DRIVE
My young husband (mid 20’s) doesn’t like holding his pee. So when we had plans to visit his family in the midwest from east side (18hrs drive) , he said he will use catheter because he wants to be able to pee while driving (lol, he’s an aviation engineer, knows nothing medically). Registered nurse myself told him that’s painful to insert, just use condom cath. He was like, “what? There’s such a thing?” Lol. So I started looking for one, this has the highest rating I found and also have reviews already for using it the same way we plan to use it.Like everyone’s advice:1. Clean (wash and dry) before you put it on 2. Hold it around tightly for 30 seconds to 1 minute right after you roll it up to strengthen the adhesion.3. Put on the bag to the leg where your thing is naturally curved to.4. Use bandage adhesive remover to remove it.5. Wash the bag every after use of a condom. We successfully used this going and back without the condom coming off or leaking at all. We’ll buy again if price doesn’t go up.
