We added the TP-Link Litewave 8-Port Gigabit Switch to our setup, and it’s been working like a charm. Setup was as simple as plugging it in, no configuration needed, no headaches. NOTE: Amazon intermingles the 5-port and 8-port Litewave reviews. They're very similar and both reviews apply for the most part. I did experience the 5-port switch downgrading all devices to Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps) speeds even though the links on both computers are verified at 1.0 Gbps. Transfers between them topped out at 90 Mbps. I swapped the TP-Link Litewave switch for an older Trendnet Gigabit switch and it gets 900 Mbps throughput. A contributing factor to the performance degradation may be chaining the 5-port Litewave to an 8-port Litewave, then to the router. This smells strongly of a firmware bug. Not only is the throughput reduced to 90 Mbps, there's a high amount of packet loss. Original review: The TP-Link Litewave 8-port Gigabit switch (LS1008G) is extremely compact and energy efficient. It's smaller than a metal case 5-port GreenNet Gigabit switch I got years ago, and I thought that one was small. Some people are concerned by the plastic case, but let me assure you that it's not an issue here. It barely gets warm, and I keep it in an enclosed closet. It's fast and has been reliable. I also bought the TP-Link Litewave 5-port Gigabit switch (LS1005G) and it has identical performance with the 8 port version. The only difference is the number of ports.

Switched to this network switch when my older one started giving me problems. This just works well for me.

A very good product in terms of operation, very easy to install, plug and play, maintains very good speeds even with multiple devices connected at very high speeds. The only point that I see against it and why I give it 4 stars is because the quality of the device feels somewhat cheap, the plastic feels like it is the most economical, I have had other switches that feels more high quality, but in operation it behaves in a very good way. If it were not for the material, it would give it 5 stars since it works excellent.

Small and compact and fast! Works really well and it’s fan-less so it’s quiet.

I consider myself reasonably tech-savvy but anybody could hook this thing up. I never looked at the instructions. Unplugged my internet router, turned off the TV and computer (probably didn't even have to do that), plugged everything else I wanted wired into the switch (3 devices), and turned everything on. Perfection. Wireless unaffected. Even the infamously godawful, always-buffering LG Apps and Web OS appear to be functioning better than normal. 500 mbs sustained and sometimes faster speeds on the computer (I'm paying for 300). At this price this little switch is an outrageous deal. Another reviewer mentioned the lack of grippy "feet" on the very lightweight unit and that is somewhat of an issue. But at that price, and not having a premium piece of furniture underneath my stuff I had no problem sticking a couple of small pieces of two-sided tape on the bottom of the switch; problem solved for me.
