Samsung DC64-00519B Washer Door Lock Switch

Can't believe a service company wanted $450 to replace this washing machine door lock. I did it myself less than an hour. That was about three years ago. Still work fine.

My Samsung WF350ANW/XAA front load washer door lock mechanism was completely busted up. The mechanism locked itself with the door open, so then we attempted to force the door shut, resulting in a completely broken mechanism. I believe it was on its way out anyway.I started sweating the service bill for having this repaired, I'm sure at least $200. But then turned to google and quickly found that this is a common failure in front loaders, and found several youtube videos that showed how to remove the rubber boot to gain access to the lock mechanism. Then its simply removing a few screws (3 for my Samsung) and unplugging the wiring harness (3 connectors), and the reverse to install the replacement. Took about 15 minutes total for removal and replacement.This part is apparently compatible with DC34-00024B which is the one that came out of the washer. They looked slightly different, but all the important stuff such as the door close button, locking mechanism and wiring connectors were identical. Sure enough it fit just fine and is operating fine as well.I ordered the part from Virginia Service Supply with 1 day shipping. It arrived quickly and was packaged well, in bubble wrap, in a sealed envelope and in a box with air cushions. Local appliance parts store wanted about $80 for this part.

My front load washer door latch broke, Samsung no service my rural area, called Sears Home Repair. $ 120 to come out to evaluate, tech ordered this part & told me $ 98 for part and $ 195 to install. i watched him, took 10 minutes.3 months & 1 week later it broke, Sears told me warranty only good for 3 months, wanted to send tech out to evaluate again, total be same price. I looked this part up, bought her for like $ 19, installed myself .. working beautifully

Tried to get samsung to cover this part as it was so poorly made, did some research and this part we rcvd from Amazon seems to be holding up well so far. My washer took two different model numbers, this ones reviews appeared to be better, so I went with it. Cheaper to order thru amazon than samsung....for anyone else with this problem(which seems to be everyone that purchased this washing machine). Very disappointed with Samsung for not doing a recall.. who would know when buying this product that the plastic latch would crumble into pieces in less than two years? And we are not rough people by any means, just saddened that normal everyday wear and tear would destroy this little plastic part. Wonder if it was a money maker for Samsung to have all these people order this part due to no choice of their own?? Husband easily installed in under ten minutes for those DIY-ers! Hope this review helps others that are in the same Samsung boat!

So here's the deal, if you look up your part number for the door lock switch in Whirlpool/Kenmore, you'll pay $25 more. Samsung part number is cheaper. But the part is made by a third party mfr. (German patent) that sells this switch to several washer manufacturers. It is not particularly well made and engineered, as evidenced by the high failure rate of these switches. I opened up my old one and probably could have fixed it, but wasn't worth it. What happens is that moisture and gunk get into the switch mechanism and makes the electrical contacts operate errantly.

so after 8 years of my kids slamming the hell out of the washer door, the lock finally took a shit. ordered this replacement locking mechanism as a last ditch attempt to not have to call out a repair person and avoid the laundromat at all costs. it arrived today and I’m proud to say the whole job took me about 20 minutes start to finish, and that was even with me having to hunt down a couple different screws after I lost the original two. My husband and was super impressed with me and I feel like a total badass now aaaaaand saved myself prob $250-$300 on a repair job.

Works like a charm. I couldn't believe that my Samsung washer needed the door lock replaced about 2-3 years after I purchased it brand new. The problem I found from local repair technicians is that NOBODY has Samsung repair parts. It seems that the only way to get the part is online. So, as the laundry piled up, I had to wait a few extra days for the part to come in. Not being a very handy dandy DIY person, I found a few repair videos online and was able to make the repair in about 30 minutes. Wasn't too hard at all. The replacement part worked perfectly. I will probably order another one so I have it handy when the time comes to replace it. I find it hard to believe, though, that these locks only last a few short years before needing replaced.

After the locking mechanism got stuck in the lock Position on my washer, a quick google search lead me to an easy fix it yourself video for my washer. This part was linked in the description. A pet for under $30 saved me a lot of $$$$$. Getting to the part in the washer was a task but obviously has nothing to do with who made this replacement part. It fit perfectly and is working with no issues! Save yourself the money and fix it yourself!
